Hi, Frens

I m in action again after 9 months when i visted Valley of Flowers and Hemkund. This time i am planning a trip for around 9 days in Kinnaur and Spiti. I am planning to trek to serolsar lake, visit sarahan, nako and chnadratal.

Can i do it in 9 days. I am planning to leave delhi on friday (4June) evening and planning to return on 13 night in delhi. I am going to use publ;ic transport and keep the trip low budget.

Can i do serolsar lake trek without guide. How can i find a group for chndratal trek?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alok

We are a group of 4 (family) planned and will be starting from 5th June from Dehradun by our own vehicle. on 9th we are planning to go to chandratal by trek as we heard that its closed for vehicular traffic. We may meet on 9th if u r also doing that trek on the same day.

Great news!! Someone is trying Chandratal on 9th June.

Probably you would be the first to write something on firsthand experience about the area in IM for 2010.

I am also planning but that's on 4th week of June as I won't trek and plan to go by car.

Wish you guys all the best and do share your experience once you are back!!

@Alok: You actually could start from Shimla on 5th and need to be back on Manali by 12th. So you have clear 6 days in between which may be just sufficient to complete this loop with your transport. But with public transport and that too in the time you chosen when roads and high passes are not in its best, I think it may be difficult. Trek to Chandratal and back (assuming you would get snow enroute on 9th) should take 2 days unless you are extremely experienced trekker in this region. Not sure what activities you plan in Sarahan and Nako. So plan according to your available time.

Cheers!!

Thanx Presudheerd, I will try to cath You up on 9th. i think if i will start on 9 for chandratal then i can reach Manali on 12th June. that will fit in my plan to reach Delhi back on 13 June. Now i have to fit in the earlier days.

In srahan i m planning to visit the temple site.Thanx Kshil and can u suggest what else i can do there? Nako i was planning to visit the lake. I can drop that if there is shortage of time. All are kindly requested to give more feedback on the places i can visit till 9. My plan is flexible.

Thanx in advance

Nako lake is not actually a lake. And it is pathetic to look at. It is just a central water body in the town. It is also green in color. It is best avoided.
But if it so happens that you have to stay in Nako, then stay at the Reo Puguil hotel. The rooms are nice, it has tasty food, and you do not get even a glimpse of the dirty pond.
I stayed two nights in Nako and didn't even venture close to the 'lake'.

Thnx username. I was just reading another thread. Since i am planning the sarahan, i was thinking about sarahan wangtu trek. it will take four days. So if i can be there at sarahan on 5 june. then on 9 june i can reach wangtu and can take a bus for kaza. 10 i can stay at kaza and at 11 i can trek to chandertal and can come back to manali and reach delhi by 14 morning. how it looks?

Or can i drop chadertal and cover selosar lake. So i will remain in kinnaur, not going to spiti at all.

What will be better?

Hi alok

as per my fixed itenary, on 9th morning we will leave Kaza by car and reach Losar/Batal. If accomodation available at tents in Chandratal, then we will park the car at Batal and can trek down, have a night stay at chandratal and 10th morning we start up to batal and leave for Manali. If there is no tent accodation available at chandratal, then on 9th we stay at tent at batal, park the car and leave for chadratal trek on 10th early morning and will come back same day before night. Then leave for manali on 11th and will reach by evening after spending some time at Rohtang La.

how is it?

Back from trip

The road condition is not very good beyond Rampur. Also due to the snowfall in Kaza and the rainfall in kinnaur, road conditions have gone worst. SUV will go, but u may face some problems with the low ground clearance vehicles.

@himalcrazy & shanty,

talking about chandertaal is a dream due to bad weather u can't even think of this. Lalalacha , baralacha, tangalala pass all are closed due to heavy snowfall, lately anil adventure tried to visit these places but got himself struck at sarchu.
