hi,
i am planning an adventure trip of around 8 days to himachal.
we are planning to visit shimla, manali, rohtang, dharamshala before making our way back to delhi.
It is more of a road-adventure trip.

Please advice on how to go about the trip.
How much days should we pay to each location.
what is the scope of activities at each location as i never been to any of them.

you can go like this

Delhi -> Chandigarh -> Shimla -> manali, rohtang, dharamshala -> chandigarh -> delhi

You can get Kalka mail train and many more from delhi station.

i am planning to go by my own car.
the route is pretty much clear.
the confusion is over how much days should be spent at each place and is it possible to cover each place in 8 days(including travel time).

manali has been finalized as one destination.
I have heard that there are many adventure sports in manali.
can someone tell me about them.

Hi

You can do Water rafting in manali in beas river. On your way to manali itself you will see water rafting grps,You can go through any of them.
Moreover i think by october the route to rohtang is closed. It closes anytime around september/october.
You can also do paragliding in solang.

All the best and enjoy your trip.

Regards
Kunal.

Give 2 days to Shimla, 3 Days to Manali, 1 Day each (8-9 hours driving) for Shimla to Manali & Manali to Dharamshala and Dharamshala local. Rohtang might be open, but you will have to hire a local cab for that as non-HP vehicles are not allowed to go there.

thanks kunal and sriprakash,

i have read somewhere that rohtang remains open till the end of october.is it correct?
how weather would be like in manali during 8-14 october. can we expect some snow. n how cold it would be?
and about shimla, i never been to shimla bfor, 2 days would not be too much for shimla ?
as we dont want to make this trip rooming around the market places or temples.
what are the good places to visit in shimla other then the market area.

Rohtang remains open on Nov too. All depends on snow and road condition there. There will not be any snow at Manali. Rohtang might have.

Shimla 2 days is not much. There is a lot apart from the Market/Ridge, like Jakhu, Tara Devi, Viceregal, Glen and more. Excurssions like Kufri, Narkanda, Naldehra etc.
