I just randomly want to take a break from office and go somewhere nice. I have a habbit of just picking up a name and planning my trip around the place. Its quite haphazard and i do not know if Khirganga is worth a visit, if its doable in 3-4 days and how. Can you please help?

1. Whats the best way to reach Khirganga?
2. Can it be done from Delhi in 3 days?
3. Any other nearby place you suggest that can be done if i add another day?

Thanks a lot.

Possible

Hey there well as per your query.. i would like to tell you that Khirganga is possible in 3-4 days. as me and my friends have done this trek in 4 days once.

what you need to do is catch a bus from ISBT Delhi 4 Manikaran or Manali. if you get a bus for Manali then get down at Bhuntar from there you will get buses going till Barcheni (this road will pass through Kasol and then Manikaran) which is the last motorable point (Recently some ppl told me that a road is been made till Tosh) so you need to get to either of them and then from there it is an 8 KM trek to KhirGanga.so once up you can stay there for a night and then trek down the next day and trace you route back to Delhi.

I would suggest that if you want to make a trip till Khirganga at least have 5-6 days in bag else it is a rush rush trip of 4 days from Delhi-Khirganga-Delhi.

hope the inputs helped.

Cheers !!!

Thank You. 5-6 days seem very stretched right now. so can you help me with any other place around delhi which is doable in 3-4 days? I am the backpacker sorts budget traveller (you would know by the zero amount of planning i do for anything)...lesser inclined to adventure...more on the lines of exploring a small village, a random monastry, a small off beat trekking route..uttarakhand is more or less covered so please exclude that from your suggestions.
Hope more people respond to this ...or else i might just end up taking an aimless walk in dharamshala.

Yes there are quite a few places to stay...We stayed at lonely planet which is a lil further away...nice place and good food!!!
there is also a dharamshala there but its only for indian nationals...its right next to the hot water spring!!! Kheerganga is an amazing place the trek, the view ,The hot water wish i could go aswell !!
But yes do inquire about the conditions and go...if its snowed in there wont b any places to stay or any food..the only ppl who saty back in the snow are the temple pandit and a few baba's!!! so its best to ask in kasol or barshaini abt the condtions and go...

@exploring...see basically at this time of the year just picking a name and travelling wont do..cos if the place is snowed in,the whole trip is wasted..kheerganga is a day trek from kasol...kasol is overnight from delhi...bt i would suggest you stay a night in kheerganga as well to do justice to d place..!!

Though you have been most places in Uttarakhand, see if villages in the Binsar sanctuary interest you.

Have you been to Naggar as well?(near Manali)?
