How long before travel should a yellow fever vaccine be administered for the certificate to be valid at immigration? I have read that it should be 10 days, but can it be more? I would like to get this done around 2 months before travel in order to account for any side effects, but will a certificate 2 months old on the date of travel be valid? Also how long is this usually valid for? Can I use the same for all future travels in and out of the country?

I know yellow fever is not endemic to India, my question pertains to entering the country from a region where it is endemic.

Yes & Yes.

Yes, you can get a much before the 10 day. The Yellow Fever certificate is good for 10 years. It is a yellow booklet. People above the age of 60 are exempt from the vaccination.

No. Yellow Fever booklet is specified by WHO, and not any doctor can make an entry. The YF vaccination is controlled as it the ingredient is live bacteria.

Not sure about the above 60 age exemption.
The gentleman in news (link below) was 67 and went on to take the vaccine and unfortunately became one of the 12 in a million person to develop a serious reaction.
