Dehli + Rajasthan in November, anti-malarials necessary?

Hi guys! So I'll be traveling to Dehli on Nov. 6th and across Rajasthan throughout November. The CDC calls that area a 'moderate' risk for malaria, so my doctor proscribed me doxycycline... But since it's fall and probably near the end of peak mosquito season, are the anti-malarials really necessary? I'd rather not blast my system with antibiotics unless I really need it... And I'll be needing to douse myself in mosquito repellent to avoid dengue anyway, right?

I never take any anti-malarial tablets but use mosquito repellent. Never contacted malaria in any of my trips.

Its all a matter of odds. I didn't do anything besides repellants. Next month my cousin, god bless her the finest host, caught it. For more on this see our frequent comments on this topic. Since we have shoveled this so often we have like in the prisons for jokes assigned a number for the particular arguments. You will understand this if you spent a period of time in incarceration. I have #8, #12 and the latest #21. Please don't hesitate to comment thereof. Also, see Nick's brilliant #5 and Hot2s insightful #11..

I suggest precaution. Malaria cases are on the rise in Rajasthan (in the news couple days back) and so is dengue - https://in.news.yahoo.com/dengue-mal...171403617.html

It is also unseasonably warm, even hot on some days. It was about 40 degree centigrade day before - and this is October.

Thanks guys! I've read some of the other malaria drug threads, but I just wanted to check if anyone had specific opinions for the time of year and region, which some of you have given . So it seems to be a warm fall...but I'm still leaning towards not taking the the drugs, since they won't protect against Dengue so I need to be extra careful with my mosquito repellent anyway.

I'm going to douse all the clothes I pack in a deet based repellent made for clothes, douse all my exposed skin in a deet based repellent every 8 hours, and also wear a non-deet based repellent bracelet as well...

I've never done it, but I think that repellent washed into clothes is a good idea
