Hi All,

This is the first time i will be travelling to Gujarat.
We are total 14 members with kids and elders.

Here's the Itinerary:

1st Feb:
Reaching Ahmedabad at Night by Flight.
If we start on 1st Night on Taxi, will reach Dwarka on 2nd Morning.
Or start Early morning on 2nd Feb to reach Dwarka by Noon or evening.
Hows the Road Condition from Ahmedabad to Dwarka? can we travel during night? is it safe?

2nd Feb:
Either reach Early morning if we start on 1st Night or reach by Noon.
Site seeing & stay in Dwarka. Stay at night.
Is 1 Night stay sufficient at Dwarka to cover all spots?

3rd Feb:
Site seeing at Dwarka. If psbl stay at Dwarka or start at night to Somnath.
Hows the road condition from Dwarka to Somanth? Can we do it at night? or recommended during day time?

4th Feb:
Reach Somnath or site seeing at Somanth. Stay at Somnath overnight.

5th Feb:
Start early morning to GIR. Jungle Safari. Stay at Gir that night.
Checked the GIR website that the Safari Timings are 6-9, 9-12 & 3-6.
Is hiring Gypsy compulsory for Safari? Saw the website that we can book the slot online.
What are economic stay options at GIR considering we are 14 people?

6th Feb:
Start to Ahmadabad. Hows the road condition from Gir to Ahmadabad?
Reach Ahmadabad by evening so that we can catch our return flight at night.

Open for inputs/suggestions. As there are elder ones too travelling, i need to make sure it wont be hectic with this plan.

Please suggest if you know of any realiable Taxis for Hire for this trip who knows these roads well.

Thanks
Swami

Hi Swamicharan..

It will not be a good idea, in my opinion, to start for Dwarka in night. Journey is long & it will be tiring for the group. You might hire a tempo traveler.

Road condition as I remember (had driven my zen on the same route as per your itinerary) is good. Still if you start early morning from Ahmedabad also, you will make it to Dwarka by late afternoon only with the stop overs on the way. Evening, you can have Darshan of Dwarkadhish.

Next day, Local site seeing of Dwarka, you can finish in half day and in afternoon, can start for Somnath to reach even by late evening.

Have you checked status of online slots availability for your planned dates? I doubt, if you would find open slots now online. So most probably, you would have to take slot allotted on spot with local gypsy drivers. If I am not wrong, there are some slots kept for on spot booking too.

Sinh sadan is economical good option at Sasan Gir. But availability will be an issue. I normally use a farm house accommodation in a village close to Sasan. They have good rooms & home cooked food arrangement. I will have to look for the contact details and will share as I find them.

Thanks Dipak for your valuable inputs.

Current plan is to stay at Dwarka for 2 Nights and relax. Start to Somnath early morning of 3rd day, so that we will reach somnath by Noon.

I checked GIR website for slots during our timeframe, free slots are available.

Do we have enough economic stay options at Dwarka/Somnath for 14 members?

Thanks
Swami

2 nights at Dwarka is definitely a better plan.
At Dwarka, accommodations are plenty. So you can even reach there without prior reservations.
At Somnath, Sagar darshan guest house, accommodation facility managed by temple trust, should be a good economical option. I think, they have online booking facility too.

You can read my recent TR on Gujarat for more details. If you have no other purpose other than flight connectivity, you can try the Pune Rajkot flight or Mumbai Rajkot flight.

Thanks for pointing me to your TR. It was really informative. I will try to accomodate Rani ki Vav & Modhera temple in our Trip.
Velavadar Blackbuck National park interests me too.

Dwarkadhish Athithi Grih, Near ISKON Gate (02892-234090)

I think, this is the Dwarkadhish temple trust managed guest house.

If you do consider travelling in the night by road then do ensure that there is sufficient rest for your family as well as the driver. You would not want your driver to sleep while driving. Also check if they could provide an additional driver if travelling in the night is a must.
