Hello all,

I planned a Saurashtra trip a few years ago, but could not see it through. This time I have a bigger and better plan. I plan to drive in my Honda Jazz with my parents (retired, but in good health.)

Here is my itinerary:

Day 1: arrive in Ahmedabad. Shopping, leisure.
Overnight stay: Ahmedabad

Day 2: Akshardham, local sightseeing
Overnight stay: Ahmedabad

Day 3: Modhera, Patan
Overnight stay: Ahmedabad

Day 4: Little Rann of Kutch (wild ass sanctuary), local Rajkot
Overnight stay: Rajkot

Day 5: Pirotan island, local Jamnagar
Overnight stay: Jamnagar

Day 6: Narara maritime, Beyt Dwarka
Overnight stay: Dwarka

Day 7: Dwarkadhish, Nageshwar temples, Somnath temple (evening)
Overnight stay: Somnath

Day 8: Gir lion safari (6AM), local Diu
Overnight stay: Diu

Day 9: local Diu
Overnight stay: Diu

Day 10: Shatrunjaya temple
Overnight stay: Palitana

Day 11: Velavadar
Overnight stay: Bhavnagar

Day 12: Lothal, Nalsarovar bird sanctuary
Overnight stay: Ahmedabad

Day 13: shopping, leisure
Overnight stay: Ahmedabad

Day 14: check-out and depart from Ahmedabad.

Is it a good idea to stay overnight on Day 7 in Somnath and depart for the 6:30AM Gir safari the next morning?

Have I given sufficient time for the nature places -- wild ass sanctuary, Narara, Gir, Velavadar and Nalsarovar?

Any suggestions for hotels in any of the places in my itinerary?

Thank you all for your suggestions.

My tastes are a bit different from yours and you will have your elders to acommodate.

However my penniworth

I went to Bhuj before the dreadful earthquake, and had to get a special permit to visit the villages nearby who practice local crafts. To me so fascinating ,and I was the only foreigner to be seen . Traditional clothes, beautifully decorated mud brick houses, internally and externally.

The palace with all its Venetian glass mirrors and the cooling water, I rather suspect will be no longer.

I suppose you cant see everything, but I enjoyed the Ghandi Ashram, not Askhardan, no finesse.

Palitana was a marvel, but I suspect you parents will use a doolhi.
Plenty of water, but then your parents will not be wusses, and sip every 5 mins.
Enjoy
