So I will be traveling from Mumbai on my motorcycle to Kutch. Im a photojournalist & I love history. So my main interests lie in shooting some historical places viz temples, ruins, forts, architecture etc as well as some local culture & color. Villages, artists & their various art forms too. And some mandatory sunrise sunset over the landscapes.

I would like to start off with dholavira because a friend would join me from here to dholavira after which I am on myself as he goes off somewhere else. I have done some research here but would be great if someone could help me fine tune my itinerary as well as add some places of interest to me. My idea is to see as much kutch as possible but Im an average budget traveler. Hotel recommendations are also welcome. The more I started looking at places, the list of things to see expanded more & more and while my time is limited to 7 days at the most.

I plan to do this late December - early january.

This is tentatively my plan

day 1 mumbai - baroda (have house there so can save on acc expenses)
day 2 baroda - dholavira ( stay at Dholavira?) reach by evening
day 3 leave afternoon for Bhuj, sightseeing at bhuj
day 4 more bhuj (tapkeshwari temple, etc)
day 5 kalo dungar, accomodation here?
day 6 lakhpat, narayan sarovar
day 7 mandvi, shipping yard
day 8 gandhidham & kandla
day 9 towards baroda (but a quick detour at Lothal)

Please also do let me know places where fuel places wont be available so I could tank up before. Also there are permits requires for some places please let me know where.

Dholavira - Ruins. I want to reach by late afternoon or evening so as to get some evening light. I assume it will be touristy so perhaps an early morning next day would also be used. Im curious if there are timings to the place, Moonlight long exposure shouts would also be a good idea. Also is there accommodation at Dholavira if not what is the nearest place for accommodation.
Also is there anything enroute Dholavira I should take a look at? Are there permits required to see Dholavira if yes where should I procure them? Also plan to go to kutch fossil park / wood park next day afternoon after which I leave for Bhuj.

Reach Bhuj by late afternoon. Is Kakkadbhit Yaksha enroute? I have been unable to see any map locations or even pictures of it.

And I have an alternate plan of doing the whole route by car instead of motorcyle. How is the road condition throughout?
