hi all,

my first post here.. read few posts about Gujarat which are present here already. But somehow still kind of confused if my plan is correct or not and i want your guidance to make most of the trip.

Me and my frnd are planning to cover the state on bikes.

My primary reason is to watch the Rann Utsav and Kite festival.

Next reason is to explore food delicacy of the state.

9th Jan - Pune -> Vadodara (Let me know what things i shouldnt miss in Vadodara )
10th Jan - Vadodara -> Diu and Somnath -> stay at Junagadh
11th Jan - Gir Safari -> Porbandar -> Stay at Dwarka
12th Jan - Dwarka -> Narara Marine Park -> Stay at Bhuj (will visit Mandvi if its really worth)
13th Jan - Bhuj -> Rann of Kutch (including Dholavira and Kalo Dungar - any permissions required to these places ??)
14th Jan - Bhuj -> Ahmedabad (Via Mehsana) (Kite festival)
15th Jan - Ahmedabad (visit Akshardham, step wells etc)
16th Jan - Ahmedabad -> Pune
17th Jan - Pune -> Bengaluru

i need inputs on route plan and best affordable stay options(not expecting too posh lodges).

also need input on booking Gir safari Online.

not sure if i will be able to visit Gujarat again. So want to make sure i am missing out important places during this visit.

I've moved your query to Gujarat forum. Look for past trip reports in this, all of your questions have been done to death. Use the search function as well. Off the bat, you're doing too many things in one shot, you'd realize that better if you read up a bit on the forum.

Welcome to Indiamike!

9th Jan - Pune -> Vadodara (Let me know what things i shouldnt miss in Vadodara )
would take you about 9-10 hours if you come via mumbai. more if via nasik, i personally like the interior roads. they have so much character and sights than the highways.
10th Jan - Vadodara -> Diu and Somnath -> stay at Junagadh
would take about 8 hours. why immediately go to junagadh? enjoy the offerings of somnath and diu. You can legally have a hard earned drink at Diu!!
11th Jan - Gir Safari -> Porbandar -> Stay at Dwarka
Boy!!~ who made this plan? You go to Gir and then to porbandar and then on to Dwarka? when do you enjoy the sights? and the forest?

suggest make an itinerary which allows you to enjoy the sights and sample all the local cuisine. I used be like this earlier. Destination and time records only mattered. Now i have learnt " it is NOT the destination, but the journey that counts!"
sorry to preach. welcome to IM

Thanks bro for the suggestion... but we have constraint on time... leaves problem at office... so need to cover maximum in available time.

We will be spending good amount of time in Diu and then move to Junagadh for stay only.

Next day morning we will finish the safari and then start to Porbandar and stay at Dwarka. We arent planning to visit Byet Dwarka.

Please suggest how i can modify the above plan to beautify the ride

If you're on a limited budget, drop the rann festival. It's expensive and during that time costs go up in Kutch area in general. As much as the lure is of kutch for a biking trip, if you can, drop the area and focus on saurashtra only. You'd have a more enjoyable time that way. If you google up gir forest, there's a government site, book safari using that. Otherwise, it's a matter of chance if you get the ticket for the day you're there.

Edited to add : From Narara to Dholavira first (Stay at night) and then onwards, no point backtracking. Narara on 12th is a good choice though, it'd be the 3rd of the lunar month so low tide.

due to this we were thinking of staying in Bhuj and next day visit Rann. This shud be ok right ? full day in Rann and greater Rann and then get back to Bhuj again.

Shud we require any permission to goto Kalo dungar or Rann ?

which will be the best route ?? coz with people i checked, gotta know that Junagadh is near Gir and better place to stay.

After seeing ur image, and checked in maps, I can see Gir national park and Girnar are different and pretty far.

This means i have to find a place to stay near national park ??

there are many places to stay at Gir. Girnar is a small mountain and if you plan to climb it (bragging rights) then you must schedule time for it.
approximate sight seeing times. (assuming that it is being done only for bragging rights and not for enjoyment)
Girnar: 5 hours
Gir: 5 hours ( however safari times need to be dove tailed)
somnath: 1 hour
dwarka: 2 hours
porbandar: 1 hour
temple timings need to be checked if you plan to visit

in fact there are more places to stay in Gir than Junagadh, probably.
