Gurajat 15 day itinery
I am a senior and this is my 7th trip to India. We want to see the best of Gurajat in 15 days. We would like to visit maybe three different areas where there is a lot to see and we can hang out for 3 or 4 days. I do not like tours and cannot do long bus rides so we want areas that are connected by train or air. We are medium budget travelers. We enjoy tribal villages, markets, temples and ancient buildings-the old India. I've done some research and know Gurajat has lots of attractions spread out over a very large state. We just want to see the best and the most in our limited time without a lot of constant travel between areas. We are flying from Bangkok and would like to include Mumbai for some additional days. Flying into/from Amedabad and/or Mumbai are options. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Ahmedabad and around is good for 3-4 days. You would need to hire a cab for doing a couple of day trips. For more information on Ahmedabad read my trip report.
You could also consider the Kutch region. Read Naveenamohanrao's excellent report on that. It goes by Kutch nahi dekha to kucch nahi dekha or something similar.
It is already 10 years ago that we visited Gujarat.
We spend some days in Vadodara, for the rest we hired a car + driver.
Our route was Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Bhuj and with a stop neaar Dholavira we ended in the Patan/Modhera region.
More details you can read in the March part of my 2007 journal.
