There doesnt seem to be a direct bus service from Surat to Pavagarh...

However, as the schedule of GSRTC ( Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation) on the website for buses from Surat to Chhota Udepur(which is quite near to Pavagadh and hence I am presuming that the buses would be going through this route), the following searches came up :

FromPlace To Place Time Bus Type
Surat Ujjain 04:15 Gurjarnagari
Surat Chhotaudepur 05:00 Express
Selvas Chhotaudepur 09:20 Express
Surat Chhotaudepur 13:45 Express

You can try the ST stand at Surat for further queries on exact timings.

Much more convinient would be to head off to Baroda and then take a shared taxi ( jeeps ply on this route a lot) to Pavagadh.

However, a note, the jeeps are WAAAY TOO OVERCROWDED

You can also search the classifieds section in the dailies to see if any private operator is havng a bus service...

A day trip back to Surat would be too tiring. But then it's your call.. if you want to.. can be done...

Surat - Pavagarh

Thanks ...
I think it would be better to make the trip by car only ... looks like using local transport is difficult and especially pavagarh - baroda line is not very frequent ... didnt find any from surat !

From Surat to Pavagarh/Champaner you have almost 200 km, that means 400 km by bus in the same day and of course the time to visit the places. Take another day for the trip.

In my opinion Baroda has no interest, instead you should travel to Champaner via Dabhoi a very interesting walled village that is worth the visit, also Rajpipla and Chandod in the way to Dabhoi are interesting sites., taking a diversion to east Chota Udaipur is only at 35 km and is a nice place to see tribal population.

You need quite a lot of time to visit Champaner because the monuments are spread in a large area. I did it by walk and to reach Vadav Talav and other sites was quite hard. The visit to Pavagarh is easier because you'll take a shared jeep to the hill.

All in all I've been a bit disappointed with Champaner because after been choosed as World Heritage.., I was waiting to find something more interesting. Nevertheless worth the visit.
