Hi pals. I , along with my wife and kids will return from Hampi to Goa on 5th Oct afternoon by train. I have a flight to catch next afternoon. So want to spend the precious 24 hours ( or less) having fun, gorging seafood and enjoying beach life. Please suggest me a stay which will be easily accessible from Margao/Vasco and Airport must not be too far too. It has to be on beach/ walking distance and I can go upto say 4000 for stay only. Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Bogmalo beach is the closest to the airport and pretty good as well.
The Bogmalo beach resort is 5000+ on Agoda.
There is a food joint there - probably Tony's Beach Club, which has good food, right at the beach and decent ambience which is frequented by the page3 crowd. We had run into Ajay Jadeja and Ashish Nehra a few years back there.
There are quite a few other stay places, much cheaper than the Beach resort there.
Else you can consider Heritage Village Club Goa at Cansualim. A very good option - in the price range, a relatively quiet place in a sleepy hamlet.
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa, VOF, Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Brahmatal Trek

You could also consider Village Vibes.

Som,

I usually stay at Martin's Comfort, which is not far away from the Airport (give or take a 45 min journey). Its a relatively quite part of south goa and I simply love Betalbatim village area. Plus, its hardly any distance from Madgaon and one can easily access the larger beaches. It is near one of the least known beaches (Sunset beach), though the comforts rooms are a little further away from the beach (walkable yes, but a 15 min journey). There's another place down the road that leads to the beach (MKOP and where i have stayed too). Its a place where I know the owner, so he gives me a pretty good and reasonable rates for stay. The place is nothing to write home about, but he makes it up with the service and food. Plus, the beach is really close by. MKOP - My Kind Of Place. Also, Martin's Comfort is really Martin's corner, the place Sachin Tendulkar loves to eat at when in Goa and other than that, you got ton's of other good eating outlets. Check them out if you can.

Remember to bargain with them (as Indians, I think that's anyway coded into our DNA) since the peak season wouldn't really have started. Costs around 3K per night. MKOP would give you a room for 1.5K (huge room with AC, attached bath and balcony). Try the food at MKOP, since the cook can drum up pretty good one's, customized to one's taste buds.

There are quite a few good options along the beach. Right from Betalbatim beach up to Bogmalo Beach.
For food, the shacks would start opening as well as other food joints like Tonys at Bogmalo and Martins corner at Betalbatim.
Even Bambolim has got good stay options.

ETA - this was typed and kept (unposted) before the above exchange of posts.

Just had a talk with him and have finalized. He has offered 2k for four of us in one ac cottage which I have found to be extremely reasonable, specially as the breakfast is included. Thanks to you and all other friends.
Cheers

That's a reasonable enough price, since the know the cottage can easily hold 10 people. The cottage is just behind the 4 rooms (which is a one storey building). Make sure you let the guys there (go with Rabi if he is there during that phase) know when you arrive and get a bit of quick cleaning done, since its just the start of the season and rooms could be on the mustier side.

PS: I should have given my name to you Som, as Anshuman probably would have further lowered the cottage costs if you would have given my reference.
