We are going to Goa in a couple of weeks and were planning on staying around Baga Beach. A few years back we visited in April and found the quieter beaches (which we normally prefer) to be like a ghost town so ended up on Baga. So, we were wondering whether it is worth spending a night on Palolem beach this time. We would like to see what the south beaches are like, but is almost everything going to be closed? Should we just stick to the north again?

"This town, is coming like a ghost town"

Not much happening in Palolem this time of year and little or no beach depending on the severity of the storms washing away the beach.

But there will be a couple of restaurants open and hotels if you want to view a windswept and likely sodden beach.

That's another thread but since you asked, yes, two guys I know have spent two monsoons kite surfing, the high seas and winds were what they were looking for, can't go out every day but they managed a lot of days surfing, it's a x sport Johnny, not for the squeamiish.

So if your looking for big seas and wind then the monsoon time is when your gonna get that. There's a surfer I know who wants to surf the monsoon for the same reason.

Visiting for a day to see a deserted beach and going for a few days into which you might fit in your favourite sport are two completely different scenarios. Hence different answers.

Palolem is really beautiful but if you want to see it at its best, you should either go in november or in february, march. The tourists are not that many and you can still enjoy the beaches and some nice restaurants.
