Hi

We're planning a 3 week trip to India in October, with 4 nights in Goa. The plan is to take the overnight sleeper train from Mumbai, arriving in Madgaon in the morning. Then 4 nights probably in Agonda or Palolem. I have a couple of questions - I'd really like to go and see the waterfalls at Dudhsagar. Is it worth spending one of our nights in Madgaon, to travel to the waterfalls from there, and then on to the beaches, or is it easy enough to do as a day trip from Agonda or Palolem?

Second question - does anyone know of any good wildlife/jungle trips in Goa? I'm less keen on the elephant rides, as I worry about how well they are looked after.

Any feedback appreciated!

Madgaon town is ok for shopping, eating etc. but it does not have good clean accomodation and not many tourists spend much time there or stay overnite in Madgaon.

Stay on the beach (Agonda or Palolem) from where you can do Dudhsagar falls day trip by taxi. Note that your private vehicle or taxi is not allowed inside the park where the Dudhsagar falls are located. You can drive up to the park in your taxi and then at the park entrance you will have to take a park authorized jeep for visiting the falls.

You will likely see a few Deer during your Jeep ride towards the falls and for sure Monkeys near the falls but otherwise Goa does not have a National Wildlife park for large animals such as Tigers, Elephants etc.
