Ballaboy, I think you are missing the irony here (and the "?" marks)
The person who told you no oil lives in Hyderabad, which is a long way from Goa....
There have been many recent reports of oil/tar plaguing the beaches still and ineffective clean ups, so maybe wait and hope that someone who is on-site gives you an answer?

Hey Ballaboy,

Once you get to Benaulim, can you give us an update on the situation ?

I'm off to Benaulim in three weeks too.

Thanks

Its true i live in Hyderabad. The oil spill happened in Aug. The oil would have dissipated, or settled by now. Its over a month and half after the spill that you will be going there, by when most of it would have been dessipated or sank as tar. A part of it washed up on beaches , some of which was cleaned. It was not a very big spill like the Deep water Horizon thing.

At least i have not heard of it getting washed up to shore in the recent past. However better to wait for a local guy in Goa to come up and post.

And pl postup on how much oil you see on the beaches when you get there.

The oil which was washed up onto many beaches in Goa in the form of tar balls has mostly "disappeared" (the authorities may like to claim that this is thanks to their "massive clean up operation" (sic), but in fact it's due to the natural action of the tides.

At the moment the beaches are relatively free of oil. That doesn't mean that it won't happen again, though it is less likely to now as the high tides of the monsoon have started to abate.
