Hi,
We are planning for 10 days trip to Southern India and hoping to spend 3 nights in Goa.
What can we see within the three days?

I have been doing some research, but it will be good to get some advice from IM friends.

Our initial plan is to visit Goa, Kerala and the backwater and Kanyakumari and spend 10 or 12 days. After that we want to take a flight to Kolkata to see family and friends.

Should we hire a car+driver for 10days during our first part of the trip?
If would be nice if someone gives me some literary hint.
Thanks

Yes hiring a car might make sense, but depends who are "we". If it is a family and kids then might be best to opt for a cab instead of hopping from public transport to public transport.
also if "we" have enough funds they should go for it. Plus when are these 10 days? May/June/July/...Dec

If "we" thinks they can manage public transport then goa should be doable with it.

Errrr where are you starting from ?
Bike rides - Kashmir to Leh and Sikkim, Jungle safaris - Corbett,Chikhaldara, Kanha and Gorumara. Traveled through MP, Himachal, J&K, Maharashtra, W.Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Goa, Karnataka, AP . . . Yet feel so New to traveling in India.

Thanks to both of you.
Ok "we" means three of us; me, my wife and our adult son.

We will be arriving from London and wish to spend 3 or 4 days in Goa.
Please let me know what we could do and see within this time.

We will travel to Kerala next. I am not sure what would be the best way to travel from Goa to Kerala and further south. We will have lots of luggage and travelling on public transport might be difficult.
I was thinking about hiring a “Sumo” car+ driver, or should we rely on express train journey? Would the trains be too crowded? If we hire a “Sumo”, what would be the estimated cost per day?

Ariving from London to Mumbai? Then take a train to Goa and use local transport for 3-4 days.

For tour ahead I think you would need some more details like where do you plan to start etec so you can think on what should be the best mode of transport.
But mostly a train should workout to reach a point from where you hire a cab for your kerala tour.
