I am trying to get an appointment at the VFS global office in Glasgow to submit a visa application.I have many fully filled in and printed out application forms but every time I and my far more patient partner have tried to get an appointment at the end of the process the response is error. This has hapened 10 or more times in the last three days. I have tried ringing up many times but with zero luck.

I have thought about turning up without an appointment, with all the relevant forms etc completed, but I live a 1 hour boat journey and a 3 hour train ride away from Glasgow so am a little reluctant to do this.

If any body has any suggestions I would be very grateful.
All the best Simon.

This is really stressing me out.

I presume you have tried to email them?. Maybe try and phone another centre to find out why this is happening or if it is a major malfunction of computers maybe they could book an appointment for you.Good luck!

What browser are you using? VFS is adamant that only certain browsers will work:

"Important Note: Please note that this website will only support the following secure web browsers; Internet Explorer (IE) Version 9.0 and above (No support for older IE Browsers e.g. IE8, IE7, IE6, IE5.5 etc.) and Firefox Version 18.0 and above. If you are not running one of these above new browsers, please upgrade to the latest browsers."

Hi,

I assume you are planning to stay longer than the 60 days allowed on e-visa?

I believe that you can still apply by post to the London office, I did that in 2016, for a non e-visa. You don't have to use the "local" office when posting.

Maybe there is some "holiday" where the Glasgow office is closed just now?

I have never had to attend anywhere for a visa, just done by post or e-visa... Can you just post your application by normal letter to the Glasgow address, and ask for an appointment? Explain you live off the mainland and are struggling with all this new fangled electricity, etc...

Good Luck!

Ed.

Thank you all for replying.
I have e mailed and phoned ,but all of this was done after the office closing on Friday,my daft mistake. Tommorow I will try again.
I am using the correct browser,I have printed out the forms nomproblem its just getting an appointment thats tricky.
Yes I am planning longer than the 60 days allowed by an e visa, but in the worst case I will go to Sri Lanka for a month and hopefully get another e visa allowing me to fly from Mumbai at the begining of April. And I am sure a month in Srilanka will be absoloute hell.Just typing that sentence makes me realise how fortunate I am to be in such a privelleged position to travel for extende periods and really should stop moaning. All will come good in the end.

And Ed,mains electricity did not appear on Lismore until the early 70"s,no one here has mains water either.

Thank"s again Simon.

Damn, that stuff is worrying. Hope it works out and you can forget about it all during the flight.

After a week of form filling I managed to get an appointment, using the computer I started off with.God knows what that was all about.
Due to storms getting to the mainland was also problematic, but got to Glasgow in the end and I am now the proud owner of a valid visa.
Role on the sixth of December when the fun begins.
