I can't verify that. Its always been possible if one was a resident and could prove it..
only for residents, you've got to have been living there for 2 years
They will not serve US citizens in KL for some reason. Really odd.

See # 108 for a more logical explanation and I know one American resident who did get a visa. Its the same in Singapore for a very long time..
This forum helped me a lot recently, so I wanted to contribute. I am an American citizen and NOT resident in Malaysia and was just today informed by IVS that the Indian High Commission has approved my application for a tourist visa.
The reason that I needed a tourist visa in advance is that I am entering by cruise ship, not air, so VOA is not possible. Along with my application, I wrote a letter explaining my situation and apologizing for the trouble. Also, I was only granted 1 month.
As always, your mileage may vary, but I just wanted to share that, in my experience, it IS possible to get a visa in KL as a non-resident.

Its very good to know and although its a special case (and was very well handled by the applicant) its a nice counterweight to those bitter responses, they took my money and turned me down... Thanks for letting us know.!

The policy changed at KLM before that. But, the point is that you no longer are SOL..
Sol ?
No longer SOL? No idea of meaning of this.
I'm aware of the e visa's advent.
I want to get a 6 month multiple visa.
Do I have to be resident in Malaysia to be eligible?
Any one who could help with information about that?

Yes, India visa in Malaysia requires residency for 2 years minimum.
You can actually get 1-year-visas now, if you are lucky. Check here: http://www.indiamike.com/india/for-c...2/#post2000930
