Address Proof for Spouse's Passport

Hi,

While talking to few passport agents, they asked for Address Proof of in-laws house for my wife, as she is staying with me there after marriage. She has got DL as address proof for her home which is also in same city but different location.
1. Can't she apply for Passport if she doesn't have address proof of in-laws house?
2. Does my address proof + marriage certificate works?

Please help.

Then surely she needs to update the address on her driving license?

Doesnt she have any adress proff at your address? any bank statements etc?

Otherwise get her Voter IDcard done for your address.

If you have been married for a very short while then it may be acceptable to apply with your address proof + marriage certificate.

Yes we are married 1.5 months back, and have joint account in ICICI bank. But its not acceptable as they need Nationalized bank.
Checklist of passport does says Spouse's PP copy but Agents are not accepting it. Dnt know why

http://passport.gov.in/cpv/checklist.htm

(a) Proof of address (attach one of the following):

Applicant’s ration card, certificate from Employer of reputed companies on letter head, water /telephone /electricity bill/statement of running bank account/Income Tax Assessment Order /Election Commission ID card, Gas connection Bill, Spouse’s passport copy, parent’s passport copy in case of minors. (NOTE: If any applicant submits only ration card as proof of address, it should be accompanied by one more proof of address out of the above categories).

What agents ? I thought you did not need an agent ? Fill form and go to your GPO or Brabourne Road, whichever is nearer.

yup - you dont need an agent, subu. they complicate / convolute / lead you astray to get some more money.
filling in the form and applying for a pp nowadays is daal-bhaat nowadays - provided you have all the required documents.

as recent as september 2009, a-proof-of-residence-letter from ICICI was valid... i doubt that has changed.
your proof of residence should work for your wife - as nayan suggested.
include the marriage certificate as well.

please photocopy ALL documents - at least 10 each.
notarize ALL those photocopied documents.
photocopy them noarized documents - 10 each.
[no harm in keeping more-than-is-required docu's handy...]

  • do not hand in your original marriage certificate - carry it with you for them to authenticate at the counter.
  • bank letter + statement - the original + notarised photocopy to be handed in.
  • keep 2 of her pp photographs + a set of photocopied documents [that were handed in with the application] for the police verification process.

its quite simple, shotti subu :)

Thanks guys.. i think that helps a lot.. :)

1 more question: If I want to apply for tatkal passport, does online registration will do? As in website of kolkata passport http://passport.gov.in/kolkatta.html it's mentioned Counter No. 6 - Acceptance of Online submission of application and Counter No. 1 - Tatkal cases submission counter. Whereas I have to take tokan on previous day for tatkal.
So shall my spouse fill manual form or online?

Thanks in advance!!!
