So basically back in 2008, I had my 10th grade marksheet and certificate and I was issued a passport with an ECNR status. Few years later while our house is under construction, my 10th grade certificate got lost and my marksheet got damaged. I know that marksheet is more important than the certificate so I laminated the marksheet.

The problem is that you can see the tears in the marksheet and it looks very beat up. However, all the information is visible and one can easily see my vital information such as DOB, parent names , etc.

In the document advisor, I was quite shocked to see that to renew my existing ECNR passport, I will have to again provide my 10th grade certificate and marksheet. My question is:

Can I apply for my re-issue of passport without going through the process of getting duplicate marksheet? Will the passport office accept my laminated marksheet with tears on it? If not, will my ECNR category be revoked?

I would really appreciate all your responses!

Certificate of last attended institution is also an acceptable document.

You may submit copies of secondary marketeer and last attended institution.

Hi Prakaant,

Thanks for your reply. I will try my luck with the marksheet I guess. Also could you tell me if I can renew my passport 11 months before expiry? I need to apply for a French student visa for my masters and they require more than one year validity in my passport so since my passport would be expiring in February 2019, can I book an appointment in March 2018? Will that be an issue?

Hi Prakaant,

I had one more question so instead of creating a new thread, I'm reviving this one. So as I'm filling out the passport application form and obviously it's asking me for my previous address as I was living in Germany.

So here is the issue.

My total stay in Germany was one year. From September 2016 to January 2017 and then I returned back to India for 4 months and left for Germany again on May 2017 and lived there since October 2017. During my two visits in Germany, my addresses were different.

Since I'll be applying for my passport in February should I mention my address in Germany from September 2016 to January 2017. Or I can mention my address in Germany from May to October in Previous address 1 and then my permanent address in previous address 2? Since it's only asking me to mention address for one year so September 2016 to Jan 2017 doesn't really cover that period?

Or is it better to mention it anyway?

I know it's a silly question but I just want to be sure before I apply? You guys are really helpful! I appreciate your reply and thanks in advance.

You will have to mention all the addresses where you have resided during last one calendar year. Therefore, you will have to mention addresses from February onward.
