Police verification of addresses abroad while re-issue of passports necessary?

Hello guys,

My passport is expiring soon and I was studying in Germany for a while. I came back to India (permanently) after the completion of my program and I would like to renew my passport. Apparently on the online application form the system is demanding me addresses of the places I've lived in the past year. So should I put the German address? What's confusing is that on the website it states that police verification needs to be done at all places where an applicant has resided in the past year. Do I need police certificate from the Germany embassy or something like that?

Also since my passport details are the same including address, name, etc and there has been no changes, will my re-issued passport be issued without police verification at my permanent address? I've heard that the government launched new rules that exempted re-issue applicants from going though the PV process (and obviously exchanging chai pani money) if the details haven't changed.

Look forward for your responses guys! Thanks a bunch!

You must mention the address where you stayed during last one calendar year (in Germany).

There may be police verification if the Ministry feels it required.

So I will need to get a police certificate from Germany then?

You should wait till the officers ask for the same.
