Hi All,

The photograph on my passport has become slightly blurred on the right, due to some water seepage in the cupboard. Passport number and name are intact and even the face is recognizable on first look. Wanted to know whether I would face any problem in getting visa due to this. Can it carry the same photograph (in good shape) and produce it n front of embassy in case they are not convinced with the image quality, or would i be required to go through a passport re issuance process altogether ?

Regards
Ruchir

If the face is recognisable clearly, then it should be good.

However, no one can give a definitive answer as there are multiple levels at which issues might be raised, at the embassy for visa, at point of exit, immigrations at the port of entry, the airlines and so on. Just because you pass through one place without issue, does not mean that it will be the same everywhere.

Thanks narendra for the reply. I understand your point of facing problems at various levels, but can it be mitigated if I carry the same photograph that was used in the passport, just to reaffirm the identity ? I do not want to go into the process of reissue as the PSK in my area is not reliable in terms of delivery.

No, I do not think that carrying the same photo might mitigate any damage to the photo on the passport.

If the particulars on the passport haven't changed (like address etc), then the reissue is generally quite fast.

Replace damaged passport with new one. Visa may or may not be problem, but when you enter to any countery security personal may be stop you.
Best Regards,
