Hi All,

I applied for re-issuance of passport as it was about to expire in Aug 17. It was issued on 6th Jan 2017 on post-verification basis and delivered to me.

2 days after receiving new passport, Police verification people came and asked since when I am living at current place. I told them I am living here since Jan 2015, however I went to Netherland for 5 months for official trip from March 16 to Aug 16.

Police person told me that it means you were not living at current address since last 1 year. They asked me to write an application to Inspector of Police of that area mentioning I was out of country for around 5-6 months and please do the needful.

Today I got an SMS that they have filed an adverse report.

I already have new passport with me. Can anyone tell if any action to be done from my end? Do I need to submit passport? There is no clarity what to do in this case. I was not aware that visiting other country in last 1 year is also counted as not residing at current place. I am not sure what is to be done now.
I might be going to US in coming few months.

Yes, You will be receiving a Show cause Notice from the Passport Office. You will have to reply the same with reasonable explanation.

The Passport may be confiscated, if you fail to respond the same.

You will have to submit the roof of stay in Netherlands.

Prakaant Sir just want some details regarding my Passport application and the queries are as follows -

Do i need to provide Proof of place of birth ,
My Place of birth is in a Village so if there will be police verification at my birth place it would cause unnecessary delay as.
I now am living at my permanent address in a town since 2008 ,
If its not required to prove my place of birth i was thinking about giving my Permanent address as my place of birth as I dont have a DOB certificate and am providing PAN card for that purpose kindly reply . As passport rules have changed

This is wrong thread.

You were required to post in another thread "Post your Indian Passport Application questions here ONLY!"

Further, Don't "Sir", please!

No, you won't be required to provide proof of place of birth. It remains entered in birth certificate if you submit. Further, there won't be any police verification at place of birth. However, the Passport Office may cross-check the mentioned place. It would be over within stipulated period.

Never ever tell/mention lie in Passport Application Form, else you will be in a big rotten soup.

Hi,

Is there any update here, were you able to resolve the issue? I am also facing similar issue, I applied for re issue of passport, I got my passport. I had a stay at 2 different places(two different Indian states so two different state police were involved in verification) in last one year. My current address report was submitted clear but for my previous address passport office says that they received adverse report although police department for previous address says they sent a recommended report.

I dont know how should I tackle this problem.

Thanks
