I agree with the direction Jituyadav is suggesting. The OPís girlfriend needs to pursue that.

However, I do not know why Jituyadav suggests that it is the girlfriend who is most likely to be the source of difficulties. I find it perfectly sensible that her father/family is the source. And, it is even possible that whatever allegations they made earlier to stop the daughter from exiting India are still in place even though the family has since softened (which might or might not be true). Once objections are in place, it is harder to remove them without something like the court order.

One of the possibilities on the table, this is how Sherlock Holmes would proceed If OP has not witnessed anything personally, this cannot be ruled out.
If you find my posts confrontationist, please bear, I am an old frustrated guy who has nothing better to do than sit on rocking chair and curse the world whole day

Firstly, I did not insinuate anything, so you as well may keep your insinuations to yourself. I do not know the actual circumstances surrounding the OP so I would refrain from making tongue in cheek comments , with or without a caveat.

Thanks for the correction. I had saved them that way and could not correct while posting as was in a hurry. Thanks again for the same. Corrected them now.

There are many factors as to why is it essential to go to court, for one, it is not a small thing to be stopped from boarding and passport being suspended. Who knows what all is in the data, do you think all that will be erased after EAM intervention? Can there be any surety that later on there will be no new problems because someone finds some paper hidden somewhere in the file.

The only way to end it for once and all is to go to court and get this sorted out for good, and get all those punished who brought all this trauma to the young couple. They can also press for affidavit that she has been wrongly targeted and everything was a mistake, which will be a strong document for life that this chapter is over.
From whatever I could collect going through some of the posts here, it has already been suggested by our esteemed members here that the OP or his GF should approach the law, to get the justice served. However, neither the OP nor his GF has done so yet, as evident from their posts. So as I said above, I do not know exactly why they have chosen to not take that path, and thus approaching the MEA would be the next best logical step according to me.

I would let the OP decide whatever he feels is right, given the circumstances they are in.
I am only responsible for what I say, and not what you understand

Like most hotel properties in Qroo, we participate in destination weddings at all our beachfront properties.

It happens occasionally that, either the bride or bridegroom has cold feet. They then make stories or something crazy to go missing or vanish.

#21 post could be confusing. Our HQ, in Spain will not keep job offer for more than six months for Mexicans working in Rivera Maya or Cancun properties.

Is possible the seŮora is not very enthusiastic to break the stalemate? Not sure about future?

Talk to your girlfriend, come to a conclusion on what needs to be done and act. This waiting game is irrelevant now as a lot of bad stuff is in her profile, which as I said earlier, may be detrimental in future. This is all that I can suggest.

So why refer to what I wrote in my post? Anyway, I should have kept it to myself, these to and fro stuff brings unnecessary strain, so apologies if that helps.

Tethys: Declutter ! It is difficult to timeline and untangle for people, who may want to help.
  • Was the passport impounded or passport suspended ?
  • What is "we" "us" ? Were you there for all those times visiting various entities and witness to it ?

Here is what a retired South Block type told me when I first read your post way back in Jan -

Passport is impounded/confisticated for people who are a) suspected criminals b) flight risk which I presume, she is neither.

A passport is never suspended - It's cancelled/revoked and at the minimum, updated into IVFRT.

People have given you suggestions - follow them.

Tweet to Sushma Swaraj (No DM) and include Rajnath Singh's PA's handle.

She should have filed an RTI long back. If not craft one, no ramkahani just precise sequence of events, and the relevant information requested.

Are you non-desi ?

You do not disagree with the irrelevant part. Intentions have little to do with actually being offensive.

There is a Kafakaesque aspect to dealing with bureaucracy. May be I am too gullible but the situation seems quite credible to me. European guy, Indian girlfriend. Girlfriend job offer in EU. Family nervous, scandalized but influential - and connected to senior law enforcement. Exit hold with some scary allegations from the father and official. Now, the Indian standard runaround by the officialdom - possibly with the parental complaint from earlier in place. OP not knowing head or tails of how to deal with the beast of Indian officialdom. GF, 20 something, grown up in a cocooned environment (happens with families of the connected) doesnít exactly know how to deal with it either when she is outside of the support structure.

Whether true or not, thatís the consistent - if wordy and naive - narrative from the OP. Some of the suggestions here (gf is the one behind it) seem beyond far fetched when the original story is quite credible. An overwhelming percentage of the young in India, even higher if they have got a job, visa in EU, boyfriend located at destination and are about to board the flight, are likely to wanting to go than not. If she were not to want to be with OP, all she has to do is to tell him to go away. Itís not like he will stalk her in India. And, her family seems connected enough to solve that with a phone call.

So, itís credible alright.

I have said what i needed to, so any more posts by me will serve no purpose. Let us just say we have different ways of approaching life, with whatever data in hand, I give best possible input as per my understanding, but always try to find the weak links in the narrative.

I move from doubt to trust, you go straight to trust, we may have different ways of approach, but it does not mean I am ridiculing the person, I just need a base to take events and people on face value. If that makes me a 'bad' person, so be it.

No, it doesnít make you a bad person... There is a difference in approach. You are doing a close reading of the posts, whereas I try to form a framework of a person, read the narrative from the OPís subject position, see how credible it is - both the narrative and whether this type of situation could occur. I do not judge the actions from Ďwhat would I doí but from Ďwhat would the person OP conveys him/herself to be be. And, willing to proceed with it unless I am proven wrong.

I will say what I said earlier, get a lawyer if you are wronged, you will get justice, India is not a banana republic. This should have been the first option after all what happened, but somehow this option is not being considered. Also, were you eyewitness to all that transpired with you girlfriend, if not, then do consider point c as possibility.
Going to court ha been an option since beginning, but we havent done that based on these things:
- I have discussed what has happened to her with various people who have done business with India from Europe. Every single one of them advised us that court should be final option as it can take a very long time to get anything done.
- Her father has the financial means and probably even influence to prolong the whole thing at court.
- Even though her father is not being cooperative accusing him at court is going to affect our future relationship with him and her family in the future so we want that to be the last option.

I was there when she was dragged from boarding gate at the airport when immigration officer took her passport at the boarding gate. I have screen shots of her dads phone conversation (plea) to authorities to not let her leave the country under any circumstances. He even blamed me in that conversation as a guy wanting to take advantage of her and he somehow even got my passport details. I also have a recorded conversation of my girlfriend facing her father infront of her family where he admitted sending those messages after he was denying that for an hour. I do not think for a second option c could be happening...

Make a case history, without making it unnecessarily long, but ensuring you dont miss on anything crucial. Put in the names & designations of people you've come across, & who did not help you according to you, attach the copies of whatever relevant papers you have, put in your /your GF's contact numbers, and mail them to the following:

a) eam[at]mea.gov.in

with cc to the following

b) pseam[at]mea.gov.in

c) diream[at]mea.gov.in

d) useamo[at]mea.gov.in

e) adlpseam[at]mea.gov.in

I hope your issue shall be resolved. A friend of mine was facing similar issues, which got resolved after he approached EAM. And hurry, as India is never going to get another EAM, as compassionate and attentive as the incumbent one.

Just my 3 cents worth.
We have already wrote down the whole story and have prepared every relevant paper. She has also sent them to some assistant passport officer in Delhi whos email she got after sending tweets to Sushma Swaraj on twitter, but unfortunately she hasnt received a reply from him yet, even after sending him 2 more email in the past weeks. Thank you for providing all the email adresses, she will sent all the relevant documents to them tomorrow morning.

Again the only problem we have with going to court is that it might prolong finding a solution for a very long time. If we cannot find any other way we will definitely proceed with that option. These are the reasons why we want that to be our last option:
- My girlfriend has no one in India who could help her with even finding a trustable lawyer let alone helping her fight in court. She has never faced anything like this and is therefore scared to death. We are already trying to find a lawyer with the help of my countrys(EU) embassy in Delhi and provide her with financial means, yet me and my family cant provide her with anything else while she is in India.
- Her father has the financial means to stall the whole court thing and even fight her in court.
- Her residence permit for EU is only valid until early July 2019 and therefore we are trying to find a solution where she would get her passport back by then. She cannot prolong her residence permit as she doesnt have a passport and is unable to get PCC.

Fuck, this is such a nightmare even I cannot even comprehend what a mess it is.
