Here's my experience at PSK Sai Arcade in Bangalore. My appointment was at 3:15 pm but I went 30 mins early. I was allowed inside without issues and sent to the token counter.

Issues cropped up during the token process. The guy collecting docs dint want to accept the e-Aadhar copy, even though the Passport site says otherwise. The site says e-Aadhar or even the Aadhar enrollment id are acceptable. Thankfully the premise had a paid photocopy service. So, I was able to produce a copy quickly.

As soon as I entered the back premises of PSK, my number was already up for the A counter. This counter is manned by TCS is super quick. Though again I was surprised by the fact that they uploaded Aadhar card twice - one for Residential Proof and 2nd under Aadhar header. This got completed by 3:00pm. I also got a printout of the passport application.

Then started the wait for B-counter. And it was a long, long wait. I got my chance 2.5 hrs later at 5:30pm. PSK closes at 5pm so everything starts going at double the pace once that time has passed.

B-counter was smooth. Though again outside the information provided on passport site, I was asked to show my graduation documents. Thankfully, I had carried my college marksheets which helped too. As my passport was completely damaged, they needed a C-counter verification too.

As the clock was ticking, I was called directly to the APO instead of a C-counter. It was super quick. The officer looked at the passport and cancelled it promptly. She told me the re-issue cannot happen without police verification. I said okay and then she proceeded to Cancel my current passport. And then asked me to proceed to exit. She also gave me back the self-attested photocopies and passport application printout from A-counter. Is that normal?

Even the exit was slow and took me 5-10 mins. People wanted "feedback". My guess is they had some quota for year-end or something. So, filled that begrudgingly and finally came out.

Total time taken = 3 hours.

I just checked the status online and it says the application has been sent for police verification. So, for now the process looks very fast.

Things noticed - PSK in Sai Arcade is decent. But the drinking water facility is terrible. So, carrying a water bottle is really important, especially in summers.

Though the process is long drawn, from what I saw the blame went both ways. Officers were denying passports for some silly reasons like people not carrying Graduation mark sheet. But, the passport site says the ECR comment page is enough to prove the ECNR verification. Then there were also people whose documents were a complete mess. These people were taking their sweet time getting documents together on various counters.

There was one guy who had copied the affidavit from Passport site and taken a print out. He was rejected at B-counter as his document header didn't say "Affidavit". He started arguing his case that the content and declaration should matter, not the heading. While I agree that was a silly grievance, we all know government officials are stickler for rules. So, that was 15 mins wasted of everyone's time.

That's great! Let's hope, everything goes fine and your passport soon...

Yes, it is normal to return the photocopies as they retain scanned copies...

Nearly a week later I was called for Police Verification today. I was asked to carry id proof, 1 year residence proof, old passport and one passport size pic. I carried PAN Card, Bank Passbook and the passport respectively.

On reaching there, the officer wasn't happy with the bank passbook and wanted another residence proof. I gave him Aadhar Card, even though I wasn't sure how would it show 1 year lapse at my current residence.

When he found out my passport was damaged he wanted Annexure-F too. Thankfully I had a copy which I had filled earlier. So gave him a copy of that too.

Lastly, he took another photo using his mobile phone too. Is that normal?

Towards the end, he asked for a bribe in a hushed tone. I said Passport site says this service is free, so I am not carrying cash. I had 50rs in my pocket, I asked him if he was okay with it. He didn't want 50rs. So I came out.

Any ideas on how many days before status is updated and passport processing happens?

Taking your photo was okay, since cop wanted to take it. Nothing is wrong in it. If wished, they may create some issue on address proof.

All the best wishes! Hope to receive your passport in a week or so...

Handled exceptionally well by the OP! Reminds me of getting a parcel out of customs long ago. A major accomplishment through the babu raj. Now to get a plastic bag to enclose the new passport and maybe a couple of paper copies..

I actually had cash in my purse along with the 50 change, just in case the guy pushed his case.

Though now I am counting my days before the status updates on passport site. Any ideas how long does it take for the status to change from police verification to passport printing?

I got a message from the PS and went there on 11th and submitted the docs. Experience as described above. I haven't been contacted by anyone since then. So, I thought it was completed. What other steps are required?

It is normal. The police office will be submitting their report and if everything is okay, the passport will be issued.

Oh. Any ideas how many days does it take for the status to update? It's been a week and still says "pending verification".
