Hi Sathya .. I recently changed my spouse name after a long struggle in Chennai PSk . Im just telling you with my experience ..

For adding wife name to your passport , the first valid document they ask for is your marriage certificate with Govt seal . Even though your wife has the licence and pan card with your surname added they dont accept. You can check the document advisor in passport.gov.in parallely.

You are right. Even I faced the similar issues when I tried to update spouce name. In my case the marriage certificate was not the proper one, I think that was issued by local municipality. They need a registered one and some other format. I have look for that now and then apply back.
Thanks & Regards

Address Change and addition of Spouse and Kid name in Passport

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I need help regarding the below details.

I have applied for passport 6 years back. Now i have moved to new address, married and have one year old kid. My husband and kid doesn't have a passport.
Can i apply for address change and include both my husband and kid name to my passport one time.

1. I want to change my address details. And add spouse and kid name to my passport.
2. can i apply for all the 3 at once. (Address Change + Two new passports)
3. Does it require any Police Verification for address change and for new passports.
4. What are the necessary documents needed for my address change, and new passports for my husband and kid.

Endorsement of child's name in parent's passports is not allowed anymore. As per the amended instructions, a minor should have a separate passport.

You will have to apply for renewal of passport for change of address and endorsement of spouse's name.

You may apply for renewal of your passport and husband's passport together.

You will have to apply for child's passport once either of you receive passport.

Yes, police verification will be required for you and your husband.

Please go through the article "How to Apply for an Indian Passport within India and FAQ" to find the details at one place.

Address Change and addition of Spouse and Kid name in Passport

Thanks Prakaant.

Need some clarification.

1. How the Police verification process will be done. Do we need to apply separately for Police verification or once we apply for Address change does it include Police verification from their part. What is the Process?
2. My Permanent address is different and Present Address is different. what is necessary to apply with Present address.
3. Or can i apply with my Permanent address?

It would be great if you go through the article, and then come with the queries.

The article will clear the air greatly!

Police verification is triggered by the Passport Office, once the application is accepted.

An applicant is required to mention both the Permanent Address and Current Address. He/she is required to submit copies of current address proof.

You are required to apply at the PSK under which your current address is.

Need help

I am new to this forum.
I am an Indian citizen living in Singapore. My passport has the permanent address in Pune, India.
I am getting married soon. My fiancee is in India. She has Indian passport.
After the marriage we need to get my name entered as husband in her passport and change the address in her passport to my permanent address at Pune, India. We cannot get her passport changed in Singapore because there are some issues in getting a dependent visa for my wife in Singapore. (She will be in Singapore on tourist visa). So she has to do it in India.
For adding husband's name we can provide marriage certificate. But I am not clear about address proof. Our place in Pune is in my parent's name. So all address proofs are in my father's name. Will address proof in my father's name and my birth certificate will be sufficient? (My fiancee will be linked to me by marriage certificate, I will be linked to my father by my birth certificate) I thought of including my passport to link my fathers name to me but my passport is not available in India- I am in Singapore.

Can anybody give any suggestions?

The rule requires an applicant to mention the current address and all the addresses where he/she has resided during the last one calendar year. Current address is reflected in the Passport.

Your fiancee may get your Pune address endorsed only if she shifts to Pune. A copy of your passport and address proof of your parents will help her in establishing her address.

Thanks for your reply Prakaant.
I have one question to you.
Providing a copy of my passport as address proof, as suggested by you, may cause a problem as my original passport is not available in Pune. ( It is with me in Singapore). Do you think PSK will accept the photocopy without verification with original passport?

Yes, they will accept as they have record of your passport in their system.

Copy of your passport, marriage certificate would be required to establish relationship of your wife with your parents.

Renewal of Passport

Hi Mikes,
I have few questions, prior to that some details.

1. My name is P.. B.. (same in all documents and also in old passport before marriage)
2. After marriage in MH state, due to govt rules, they made my name as P..P..(fathers name) B.. in marriage certificate
3. My wifes name K.. P.. B.. (in passport also, as applied her passport after marriage)
4. My name in her passport is P..P..B..
5. Shifted in Pune, Electricity Bill etc all in name as P..P..B..
6. Passport getting expired in May 2016
7. However have bank passbook and Aadhar card in name of P..B..
Questions:
1. During Renewal of my Passport, would addition of wife's name create any problem as marriage certificate contains my name as PPB and older passport has PB only.
2. Shall i change my name which i dont want to..
3. Any further problem during our overseas travel due to my name as P..B..(in my passport) and in her passport as P..P..B.

Thanks in advance All

Persons working at the PSK and RPO must be knowing this rule. There shouldn't be any problem while adding the name.

No there won't be any problem due to difference in presentation in the name.

However its everywhere mentioned that if you add/delete middle name or so would be a major change and accordingly it will be dealt by Passport dept. As the name would be different in my passport and wife's passport it is told to me that it might create problem in future during travel.
