I did not see a new thread to group congratulate, so I thought I'd start one.

Yesterday, for us! Stringing fairy lights around the house.

aarosh, that peacock is so beautiful!

We usually do (ahem, get done) a fancy kolam for major festivals. I don't know why not this time. Maybe Mrs N was lacking a little festive cheer! Anyway, she enjoyed the lights.

We might leave them there now... for Christmas. And Pongal.

Wishing light for all. May it illuminate and cheer, and make dark places shiny!

I've had viral fever for over a week now so I mostly used the time off to rest. However I did visit the old city for about an hour on Monday (dhanteras) and bought earthen diyas (lamps) from these two - the idea was to buy without haggling from small vendors (there's an online ad this year supporting that belief - below). I did that but sadly many others do not subscribe to that idea. When I agreed at the price quoted, both these ladies were so happy!

Ours was last weekend deep in LA. As per my late Mother in law's firm instructions to me when we were first married I bought a sari at one of the vendors for my spouse..
