Prepaid SIM with mobile internet

hello friends
i was trying to figure out which SIM card to get during my visit to Cochin, Kerala.
i need a prepaid connection, and would also like it to come with gprs/edge connection so i can connect my laptop and surf the net.
or when i dont have the laptop i would like to surf the net on phone (i have a pda phone).
which service provider is best for this? airtel?
any idea what their gprs rates are? the connection speed is also important, more the better :)

yes check for airtel gprs card, just pay the fee for the card (i think the amt is different for each state) then you get unlimited data transfer when browsing thru phone or pc.
the other providers also have it, you will have to chk with them.

Thanks. SO, this means, I can buy airtel gprs sim card. And I can insert it into my mobile. I have blackberry and then it would act same as I use here. I can also use it for connecting to laptop. Correct?

Unlimited Internet doesn't exist any more with the various mobile operators; at least not as it did one year ago where unlimited Internet was available for between Rs. 250 and 375. An unlimited connection will now set you back Rs. 800 or more a month. In short, the mobile operators now have enough customers hooked, and consequently they have increased prices.

I did not get a GPRS sim, just an ordinary one, and then you suscribe to GPRS. I bought a bluetooth phone unlocked there and once I got all the setting correct, it worked very well with my laptop.
When you call Airtel to get it connected, they say they have sent the settings to your phone, but did not, so you have to call them, and they will tell you what settings to use, and set your phone yourself
