Train to Mumbai

Sunday, November 25, 2018
Reach Mumbai

Below are my questions :
1. Could some one suggest correct order of places I want to see daily?

2. Should I stick to Metro or hire a two-wheeler?

3. How much should I top-up in metro card to see places mentioned above? We will be 2 person travelling.

4. I want click few photographs at Yamuna ghat. What do you suggest Sunrise or Sunset?

5. At what time I should start from Paharganj if I choose Sunrise? Will it be same to start say before 6.00 am?

6. Any other place which I am missing in Delhi?

Your feedback and suggestions are much appreciated.

-Rahul

For sunrise times I usually Google them for around the world. To me the itinerary looks packed but then I am a lazy traveler.

Your plan is very busy and at the same time you're missing some of the best spots of Delhi -
1. Shastri memorial
2. Indira Gandhi residence and memorial.
3. Rashtrapati bhawan (Mughal Gardens)

There is some duplication - Mehrauli Park includes Qutub Minar.

I'm not sure if there's much to see in Tughlakabad fort. Actually residents know of Tughlakabad as the site of the inland container depot. Similarly Shahjahanabad is one of the 7 cities of Delhi, I cant recollect it being a defined walled enclosure.

I'd recommend you purchase a city based guidebook - lonely planet or something similar. Reading threads and going by other people's perception can help, but it also reinforces their biases over what they've seen and it may be over several trips. Your trip doesn't take into account for example the security over Akshardham (queues) or the transit times, etc. You could use the metro for the longer distances - but for shorter just use an auto - they've actually become a lot more reasonable - typically 30-40 rupees for a short 2 km type ride.

Like everyone else, before me, I suggest you cut your "to visit" places by half. One could easily spend whole morning, or afternoon just in Lodhi Gardens. Drop Khan Market, Garden of 5 senses and Mehrauli Archaeological Park to begin with.

Hi,

In my opinion, it is not necessary to see every highlight for a few minutes, just to say you have seem them.

You may well be interested in every item on your itinerary, if so that is fine, but I would suggest you think about what really grabs your personal interest...?

On Thursday 22nd, I would move the Toilet Museum from the bottom, up to the turd position that day...

Enjoy!

Ed.

Delhi Itinerary - Need Suggestions

There are some archeological walking tours. Check them out as well. You get the benefit of knowing what you are seeing.
I had used the asi booklets for Delhi - would recommend the same.
I had been to the mehrauli archeological park, was engrossed checking out different ruins there - but don't remember much now.
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa, VOF, Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Brahmatal Trek

You can take the tour of Rashtrapati bhavan. You need to take permission online.

@Rashtrapati Bhawan - Online permissions are very difficult to get and there is no other option to get permissions. Invariably dates you want to visit are sold out, even on the first day of opening of bookings.

1. Could some one suggest correct order of places I want to see daily? ( Depends on where do you stay)

2. Should I stick to Metro or hire a two-wheeler? (It will be better to use a combination of metro/auto and HoHo bus)

3. How much should I top-up in metro card to see places mentioned above? We will be 2 person travelling. (metro is no longer the cheap thing it used to be, you can easily spend 100-150 Rs per head every day, use Paytm to top up in multiples of 200. There is a cashback scheme also)

4. I want click few photographs at Yamuna ghat. What do you suggest Sunrise or Sunset? (No idea about photography)

5. At what time I should start from Paharganj if I choose Sunrise? Will it be same to start say before 6.00 am? (google the sunrise timing for the day, commute time shouldnt be more than half an hour)

6. Any other place which I am missing in Delhi? (Your itinerary is already too ambitious)

I would advise you to check all the places on map and then recast your schedule
