I agree completely with recommended sites by sunradavi. I would also add taking time to tour the Lodi Gardens, truly a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. Delhi has a plethora of incredible museums that can cater to any of your interests either historical, art, or industrial based. I might take a full day to go to agra and not try and do it in a day. I personally hate the city but there is enough to see there that 1-2 days is worth spending. Make sure to go to Fatehpur Sikri outside of agra, it is a city built by the emperor Akbar in 1570. it is an incredible complex to tour, and experience, one of my favorite sites in india. The city is especially interesting since today it is practically a ghost town after lack of rain to the area forced the mughal empire to go back to its old capitals.

And if you need to relax and unwind from too much sightseeing, Lodhi Gardens always hits the spot.
