Namastee, Dear All,
I'm newbie in here coz I wanna visit India this May, so I'd like to ask about Darjeeling a bit. Is there any public transportation to reach sightseeing area?
or I have to rent a jeep or what? and how much?

Please give me some advise to spend my limited day in Darjeeling.

Day 1
Reach NJP at 8 am in the morning.

Day 2
Leave Darjeeling at 17:15 to Varanasi.

So with this limited time can you advise me what to do and what to see in Darjeeling.

Thank you so much

Regards
Alid

Yes, shared tata sumo is available. But I would suggest you to book a private cab for sightseeing, because in that case you'll be able to do more sightseeing in less time as you don't have to wait for other people to return and start for next destination. Cabs are available for rent in the taxi stand and the rate depends on the number of sightseeing places you want to go, like 7-point etc. You have to bargain. Last year we did 7-point sightseeing in INR1200 in April for Maruti Alto car.

I can suggest you an itinerary like this-

Day 1- Take a shared tata sumo from NJP to Darjeeling, approx.3 hours, check-in.
Do the sightseeing as many as you can-
Japanese temple,
Peace pagoda,
Rock garden,
Zoo,
Himalayan Mountaineering Institute,
Tea garden,

Day 2-
Go to Tiger hill to see the sunrise if you are interested
then Ghoom monastery, Batasia loop.
(in that case you have to inform the car in 1st day, because it'll pick you up in 3:30 to 4 AM)

On 2nd day, you can also visit Mahakal temple, St.Andrew's Church, Shrubbery Nightingale Park and Gymkhana club- which are at walking distance from mall.

Please let me know if you need more information

You are welcome.
You can try joy ride if you get time and if you want to experience toy train ride.
Check the joyride time table here-
http://www.railtourismindia.com/cgi-...cks=0&offset=0
http://dhr.indianrailways.gov.in/vie...g=0&id=0,6,335

We could not do it because the time table did not match with our schedule in darjeeling, you can give it a try.
