Hey Guys, I've never been to Darjeeling and would like to know a common itinerary if I'm visiting in the month of June. Is June a good time to visit Darjeeling ? Also suggest nearby places I can cover in 4-5 days time. Will be coming to Bagdogra Airport from. New Delhi.

I have read yesterday from newspaper that cars are asking very high price to transfer to difference places in Sikkim and W. Like they are are asking 6-7 k to transfer to gangtok, darjeeling, pelling etc where car rates almost half of that. Although authority are taking steps and to solve the issues and called a meeting today with operators union.

Please can you keep me updated or if possible, let me know a phone number to an agency where I can take latest update as to what the current situation is regarding fares

Toy Train fares are 800 rs and 1300 rs while booking on irctc website. Why is there a difference in pricing even when the trains I am looking for are on the same date. Only difference is time. Is timing very important as far as Toy Trains are concerned ?

Yes fare for the morning trip is more than the evening trip. Morning trip is always preferred by tourists for getting better views of the peaks

My Flight dates are 15th and 22nd. I have booked ToyTrain for 17th. Rest of the itinerary I haven't decided yet but this is the plan so far.

15th - Reach Darjeeling in the evening from Bagdogra Airport.
16th - ??
17th - Toy Train and ???
18th -
19th -
20th -
21st -
22nd - Leave for Delhi via Flight from Bagdogra.

My questions.

1. Kalimpong - Is this place worth visiting ?
2. What places should I cover if I want to cover some parts of Sikkim as well.
3. Cheap Hotels/Homestays to stay in Darjeeling. (Should I book anything in advance or book on the spot ?)
4. Taxi Fares from Bagdogra Airport to Darjeeling and Bagdogra to Sikkim.
5. Can I take a bike for rent in Darjeeling for a day or two ?

Yes, you have enough time for Kalimpong & Sikkim. But let me know a few things first. Are you traveling solo ? Your joyride is in morning or in evening ? Your preferred mode of vehicles - exclusive or shared ? Shared cabs are cheaper options. You won't get a shared cab from Bagdogra though. But from NJP station plenty of shared cabs for Darjeeling & Gangtok are available

I will be traveling with my wife. My Toy Train ride is for morning 9 am. I am OK with Shared Taxis. I wont be coming from NJP station as I am coming via flight from New Delhi to Bagdogra.

Again, Is Kalimpong worth visiting ? What would I be doing there ? and where should I go in Darjeeling if I am not booking hotels in advance ? Looking for a hotel which isn't more than 1000 rs per night.
