hello friends I just completed sandakphu trek with my wife.this was the first trek of my life(same experience for wife also),perhaps I will never go for the normal point to point packaged tour.i fully enjoyed the trek.photographs I will submit, just wait for a week.
iteranary

day 1-sealdah to new jalpaiguri stn
day 2-NJP to Darjeeling more via pedal ricksaw,140/- bucks
shared sumo from there upto sukhia pokhri(I booked all the 4 seats of back for extra comfort),each ticket 160/-
from sukhia shared maruti Omni to manebhanajn,20/- each.

stayed in masterji's hotel exotica.
our guide was hem kumar chetri,he was a very nice person.
charge 600/- each day,you can offload your backpack(one at a time)
I carried my backpack,offloaded my wife's backpack.

then the usual route tumbling, gairibas, kalapokhri,s andakphu, gurdum, srikhola, sepi, darjeeling
I will post all the hotels/lodges contacts and charges etc.

special mention-unexpected desi chiken(free range bird) in srikhola at hotel red panda of Mr Banerjee, when we reached there in his hotel,he told he already told some local guy for chicken,i was very excited as for the last 2 days we were having the same sabji bhat anda curry, when I saw the local guy smiling and carrying a pure desi chicken,i was overjoyed.and the cooking was just fatafati...Mr Banerjee is a very nice person and helpful, his rates were also very very reasonable, the full 2 Kg chicken was 1200/- around,we were 4 persons(me,wife,...arnab,krish anu...two trekkers from Kolkata met in the way),so its 300/- per head..which I think is quite cheap,as in Kolkata broiler chicken per plate is 120/- bucks in a not so hygienic hotel, and in srikhola you are getting hot homemade quality stuff(in fact all the way from manebhanjan to srikhola all food quality was at par homemade quality) at that price.i highly recommend hotel red panda and Mr Banerjee the owner, room rates were 500/-,the view from the balcony was also awesome.the rooms were spacious clean, the toilet was surprisingly spacious, next morning breakfast was also good, bengali style alu torkari, soft ruti, omlette.

I will post more details of every halt, food, funny experiences everything,
till then have a good time

sure, will do it tomorrow, from office image hosting sites are banned,so cant upload now.
some more info
in sandakphu we stayed in sunrise lodge run by a Tibetan family.very friendly and helpful.room charge was 800/- 3 bed wala room.food cost 150/- per plate veg meal.seems expensive but just think they are buying the materials at an expensive rate.
the whole afternoon all 4 of us tried to see mount kangchendzonga, weather was somewhat clear, but huge cloudes were there,so we could not see it.at around 4 pm,a chilling wing started to blow,it was so chilling,we kept walking to generate some body heat.at night I think the temp was around 3 deg c,due to the wind.i gave a proposition to others for a short walk outside,no one agreed,so I alone went for that.i could stand outside for around 2 mins.it was foogy, very foggy.wind was blowing and I could hear the whitsling type sound, that was an experience friends, however i did not take any risk staing there more than 2 mins as I am new to he trekking, and don't know the precautions etc.just before dinner a sudden clear sky with lots of stars was visible,i went calling others, but when they arrived, everything were again under fog.

being it june I never expected to see kangchendzonga.when I woke up at around 4 am,i saw heavy dense fog, with lots of frustration I kept waiting at around 5:15 I was in a half slept state, someone knocked in my door,again....again,i asked what is this, someone told in Tibetan something,i did not understand but felt it was about the mountain,i rushed in my shorts outside.sleeping Buddha was visible,yahooooooooo.......i could not belive my eyes,as it was my first time,i then started yelling other members, arnab, krishanu, and my wife.krishanu came, arnab did not, krishanu told arnab is enjoying the view from window, and I discovered I have locked my wife in the room by the outside door lock in excitement, and I am yelling from outside where are you, where are you,oh...
a local person told me if I visit a nearby view point at left, some 7 min walk little up,i can see mount Everest.i ran in my shorts,he kept telling, are yaar pant pehen lo,thanda lag jayega.upto 7 am,the sleeping Buddha was visible intermittently,i thanked god for this lifetime opportunity,as in june month I really did not expect this.

Cab you please provide the contact information of Mr. Pinaki Banerjee who owns the Red Panda Lodge in Srikhola?
Also I would like to have your opinion on the relative convenience and location of Red Panda and Shovraj. Actually I was narrowing on booking Shovraj but reading your views and the cost they are quoting are making me skeptical. I will just spend a night over there at the end of the trek and looking for a descent place.

please mail me polzi,i am now at Jamshedpur, and I am going to sandakphu again, you can join if your time permits.
btw go for red panda.shovraj is unnecessarily costly.location wise both are same,as srikhola itself is very beautiful place.as per convenience,in red panda I stayed in a attached bathroom wala room with only 500 bucks, double bed.in internet shovraj is showing some 1500/- for common toilet !!!! room, funny, isnt it.....its your call now..hehe

hi RN2,

Can you please give me the contact number of hotel sunrise in sandakphu. Shepa challet is very costly for staying. also if you have any hotel number for manebhanjyan.
I am going in Durga Puja vacation. I prefered the GTA Hut in Srikhola. How is this property for 1 night while back from sandakphu trek.

I badly need your advise and contact numbers. You can PM me.
Subhra
With Best Wishes...
