You can book online. Book from Darjeeling (DJ) to DJRZ for the round trip.

It seems there are no available seats on the 26th or 27th of December. Does any one know if this is correct or if there is anywhere else we can get tickets?

According to indialrailinfo there are 4 seats in Foreign Tourist Quota on each of the four daily trains running on both 26th and 27th December. You would need to book these in person at one of the International desks. Where will you be visiting prior to Darjeeling?

ADDITIONAL - How many tickets do you need? Who told you the trains are fully booked? Cleartrip shows availability on the first 2 trains on the 26th.

Yes, we also had this problem, that toytrain was fully booked for over a month ahead. We did not find a solution. We never managed a trip on toytrain, but instead we walked to Ghoom and its a fantastic little treck.

i don't know whether there is any "Tatkal" (URGENT) booking/reservation facility in Darjeeling Himalayan Railway(DHR).
During Christmas period, there will be usual rush.
Friends,if these are your planned visits, why you didn't booked this Joyride at least two months before?
It's impossible to get tickets now,all booked.
I'm also going to Darjeeling on 15th Dec & booked tickets in Darjeeling Toy Train for the ride from Darjeeling To Ghum only on 17th Dec.I booked it from IRCTC site on 17th Nov eveining. I booked in IInd Class seating(4 tickets @Rs.21+Rs.10 service tax) for the train leaving at 10.15 a.m.
I didn't booked in First Class(FC),because if it get Cancelled due to any reason, there will be minor temporary loss.
Tickets in FC cost Rs.94/head.

During my last trip in Nov'10,when i visited Darjeeling with my parents,i haven't done any booking beforehand. We just went to the Station to check,if it's possible for a ride from Darjeeling to Ghum.Luckily, after checking with the Station Manager,we got 4 tickets in First Class, because some passengers didn't turned up & last minute cancellation done by them.
We were lucky to enjoy the trip.We returned from Ghum by a local jeep.
