You may contact Vikki at 09815077395. He operates daily taxis for Wagah Flag Ceremony from Amritsar. He must be having the updated info.
I did not fully understand the dread term "Terminal Illness" until I saw Terminal 1 D of Delhi Airport.

Like I said, I'm not sure the exact time, but the ceremony takes place in the hour before sunset - you MUST cross before the ceremony, as it marks the closing of the border for the day - you cannot cross after the ceremony. Okk ... The Immgration office closed at 3 : 30 pm .... IST
Inidan, Pakistani, & Srilankan & i think chinese cant cross border by foot..either u need to be 65 yrs and above or 10 yrs below...
Never ever opt for train... it will kill your time like anything..
There are bus service between... Lahore & Delhi And Lahore & Amritsar...
There are direct flight ( PIA ) from New Delhi to Lahore costing around 17000/- IRS

Border Crossing
I realise that this is more of a 'pakistanmike' question, but if there is anyone who has crossed at this point recently, can you offer any advice on Waggah - Lahore transport types and costs? Or even cheap accomodation in Lahore. I'm hoping to duck over the border for a few days to visit Jahangir and his good lady wife.
well.. I can suggest u good hotel at Liberty area.. near Gulberg..its is very closed the place ..from where bus ervice run between Lahore and delhi/ Amritsar.... Opposite to Hijjaz hospital... Estern Lodge.. 0092-300520172 ( arshad )

IM member Wazen crossed recently with no problems.
A good place to stay to meet other travellers is the Regale Internet Inn at Regale Chowk (its just up a lane beside a store). They have dorm rooms for something like 150 Pak Rupees a night. The owner Malik should be able to sort out a private room for you if you want.
Try to be in Lahore on a Thursday so you can see the Qawaali music and the Sufi night.

Getting visa
Hello,
I'm in Delhi a little bit longer and am wondering if I should persue getting a visa to cross into Pakistan while here. Can you get a visa at the border or only in Delhi? How long do they take to process? I've been a little confused because a couple of posts have talked about paperwork at the border but then another guest at my hostel said you can only get visas before you go...
Any advice? Thanks.

Waggah/Attari crossing
Hi, all. I made the crossing west-east in late February, & the return early March. It's no more than 45 minutes from Amritsar, to reach the crossing.
All the info posted above appears t/b current & correct. (Opens 9:00-ish; closes 3:30 IST sharp. But please remember half-hr time difference between the 2 countries--Pakistan 'earlier.')
The Indian side is not quite so well sorted out, as the Pakistan (quite a new, airport-terminal-like building, even a gift shop!))
The biggest hassle right now is the new Rule regarding Multiple Entry (tourist) visas. The Indian side will not want you to return to India w/o staying away for 60 days. Since I was to be in Lahore for only a short time, this presented a major obstacle to my travel plans. However--with time, & a copy of my airline reservation (out of DEL, the next wk)--I was able to return to India, on side. But be prepared !
(And both Indians & Pakistanis claim that the evening Border Closing Ceremony is better from 'their' side. . . I can't say, as I was too busy enjoying beautiful Lahore, in early spring, to bother with the militaristic ceremony. Great city, Lahore: not to be missed !)

The border at wagah is open . Don't stress. The drive from Zaahedaan in Iraan to Quetta is the real concern because of dacoits and other miscreants.
Why stay at home when you can see the world?
There is nowhere to get a Pak. visa at the border. The Pakistanis have a new airport style immigration building on their side. In the past they had a wooden shed!!!.
no PK visa iss'd at Wagah
Zero chance of a Pakistani visa at the Wagah crossing. Further (coming from the Pakistani side) Indian clerks now frown on foreign passports containing the Multi Entry Visa, (some new law, an period of time between entries to India, on those visas)
Beware
