Hi All,
I am planning a 2 weeks trip to Bhutan around mid of January 2019. Forum and google search results indicate that temperatures would be very cold (0 - 10 deg Celsius). It would be helpful if IndiaMikers could share any personal experience of visiting in January? Is it advisable? What can we expect in terms of weather during January?

My tentative plan is -

Day 1 – Chennai - Kolkatta. Overnight Alipurduar Jn
Day 2 – Alipurduar Jn – Hasimara – Phuentsholing – Permit (OR)
Day 3 – Phuentsholing (Permit) – Drive to Paro – Paro sightseeing
Day 4 – Tiger’s nest
Day 5 – Paro – Haa – Paro
Day 6 – Paro – Thimphu. Thimphu local
Day 7 – Thimphu Local
Day 8 – Thimphu – Punakha – Phobjikha (OR) Jigme Dorji National Park??
Day 9 – Phobjika - Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park
Day 11 – Phobjika – Gangtey - Trongsa – Bhumthang
Day 12 – Bhumthang – Thimphu
Day 13 - Open to suggestions
Day 14 - Open to suggestions
Day 15 – Phuentsholing – Alipurduar – Overnight Kolkatta
Day 16 – Kolkatta – Chennai

We are very much interested in birding and wildlife too. Any information on those would also be very useful to us. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Base weather data for Bhutan by city, by month

It depends on what you have experienced in the past, and what you can endure !

Thanks for the info! Now I get an idea of historical averages. I have been to North Sikkim in late Oct/Nov and Ladakh in June earlier. Parts of the trip were very cold, but we managed. But I don't know what temperature it was when I went.

With proper thermals, jackets, blankets it should be manageable? Would snowfall cause high passes to be closed or anything road-wise that we should worry about? Thing is, we have got holidays approved from our office only in January

If anyone has information on Jigme Dorji National Park or Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park? Whether they take safaris like Indian National Parks? Or any information regarding Birding in Bhutan during January would also be very helpful.
