Hello Friends,

This is Deepak here from Cuttack.

I am thinking of having a visit to Jagdalpur this mid September. Please suggest me what are the tourist places near by. Specially let me know about temples and waterfalls. I will be reaching Jagdalpur around 1.30pm by Hirakhand express. So will have one full day and one half day in my hand.

Also please let me know about the hotel and lodge facilities. Thanks and waiting for your quick replies.

Dear Deepak
I have been to Jagdalpur and stayed to Chitrakote Resort for two days. It was really wonderful.
Location was superb but being a government establishment, services was not upto the mark.
I also stayed for one day in Jagdalupur town. Don't remember the hotel name but it was in the main market and nothing special about that.
Among the must visit places are Chitrakote waterfall, Kutumsar Cave and Kailash Gufa.
Don't miss the scenic route of Hirakund Express in early morning and later afternoon while coming.
It is one of the best scenic train route of India.
Just stand on the door and keep your camera ready.

My questions are :
What can be seen in & around Jagdalpur in these two days?
Is it possible to reach Amarkantak by road & upto Raipur by A/C night service bus?
Fare of A/C bus?
Then what next from Raipur to Amarkantak? By cab? on sharing basis?Fare?
I am reaching Amarkantak on 30.12.14 morning.
What are the tourists spots that could be covered.

For what to see - Refer to my trip report mentioned earlier.
Raipur to Jagdalpur is about 6 hour drive. Non AC buses are common, didnt see AC bus.
Raipur to Amarkantak, better to take a train to Pendra Road and then a share cab to Amarkantak.

completed Vizag-Araku-Jagdalpur-Amarkantak-Bilaspur trip ..
Stayed at Sai Priya Residency beside bus stand. We have seen 31st December musical programme in Ramkrushna Beach in our 1st day staying at Vizag. Breathtaking sea shore and beautiful beaches seen in Vizag, visited Thotla Konda, Rushikonda Beach, Port area, Ross Hill, Ramkrishna Beach, Bheemli Beach seen the confluence of Bay of Bengal and Gosthani River, Kailashgiri hill park, Sagar Nagar Beach, Tenneti Park Beach, Yarada Beach, Visaka Museum. Couldnot see sub-marine museum as it was closed due to damage caused by the storm. Had famous biriyani in Paradise Restaurant. Visited Simachalam Temple in one day tour. Reached Araku rly. station by KK Exp.Awesome Cave and famous Bamboo Chicken in Araku. Don't miss steamed corn and grilled chicken on the way to Araku Cave. Took KK Exp. to reach Jagdalpur station, then auto to reach hotel beside bus stand. Visited beautiful Kumsar cave, Tribal Museum and 2 magnificient waterfalls (Tirathgarh & Chitrakote)in Jagdalpur. Took night journey non ac bus to reach raipur. From there took morning 9 am bus to Amarkantak. Ancient temples all around Amarkantak, love to hear brief history of Amarkantak. Felt too much cold and sat beside 'angethi' in the night. Town is not so clean. Have tasteful dinner there. Took bus to reach pendra road and then took train to reach Bilaspur. Reservation to Howrah in Mumbai-Howrah Mail help us reach safely home. For pictures follow :

@goutam

I'm quite attracted to the brief account of your trip, especially the route you followed. Very uncommon, indeed. I would like to know where did you stay at Jagdalpur, Araku, Amarkantak, the journey between the places, costs involved etc. The picture link is also not working. Can you please share your account or travel story in a more elaborate manner? Thanks.
