Hi there

Can anyone recommend a guide to visit the tribes in Jagdalpur? I contacted Awesh Ali from the LP book but have not heard anything so could be that the email is no longer valid. The Chhattisgahr Tourist Board website also doesn't have an email address.

Thanks

Hello

You may reach out to Shakeel Rizvi. I had engaged him for couple days for visiting Tokapal, Kanger Ghati etc. He's pretty good. Contact details are in my Trip report (in my signature).

Fantastic - thanks Vaibhav. I emailed a website asking for a price and although it included the waterfalls and Kanger Valley, it was 100 for 2 people for 2 days/1 night which is a bit above our budget!

Thanks - yeah, I was thinking around 1200 for a guide and 800-1000 for a car. Maybe it's worth me going back to this company to see if they can just sort a guide and driver

try country chicken (deshi murga) and mahua (famous country liqour) at jagdalpur.
and visit the kumar-para (artisan's lane) for dokra, wooden art works, wooden panels.

kangar-dhara (water falls) and kanger valley & kutumbsar caves are also must. carry some torch lights/ head mounted lamps. wet leave surfaces/ wet stone surfaces can be very slippery. be cautious while walking.
visit tirathgarh falls also, you can take good snaps of the stone walls and local people in the haat (market places).

local ladies/ aged women wear rings in their noses, and pagdi on head, and silver bangles / anklets; you can take good photographs.
