Accommodation in Raipur and Jagdalpur
Hi All,
I'm going to be traveling to Raipur and Jagdalpur in August. Could anyone suggest some staying options in both the places along with tariffs etc. I'm not looking for luxury, just some decent accommodation.
I've been told that Kutumsar caves are closed during the monsoons. Is this true?

Hi Rajered,
Thanks for the info! You ever stayed at any of the hotels mentioned?

We stayed last February in Raipur and in Jagdalpur. This part of our journey was organized by a travel agent so I don't have real information about prices and addresses.
In Raipur we stayed one night in Centric Point. The sign in the lobby mentioned prices from 250-450 rs. The first room we saw was small and noisy but the second one was reasonable. I guess there is no restaurant since we had dinner in another place and left before breakfast.
In Jagdalpur we stayed two nights in the Rainbow Hotel. As I wrote down in my diary a spacious room and 24-hours hot water. The restaurant was good.
Have a nice journey.

Since I am from Raipur may I suggest a few good hotels here?
If you are looking for something upmarket Babylon Group of hotels would be the right choice. they have one hotel near the airport and second in downtown.
In first class category you could opt for either hotel Mayura or Celebration.
For budget hotels I would suggest Hotel Ishika & Hotel Simran.

Have a single day (Nov 26th) off from work and want to visit Laxman Temple, Sirpur and Barnawapara Forest Range. I am staying at Hotel Simran near Raipur Jn. Any idea how to arrange stuffs (book cabs and safaris if pre-booking is required)?
If you haven't already, download the Oyo Rooms app for use in Raipur. I found a great place near the city center for about 800 Rs per night. Air conditioning, hot water, and surprisingly fast wifi.
I'm in Jagdalpur right now. Unless summertime lodging is drastically different from winter, I would highly recommend booking a room prior to arrival. While I've never had problems simply showing up in a new city and finding a room, Jagdalpur proved a challenge (though I suspect being a foreigner may have contributed -- people seem to assume I'm a missionary).
Rainbow Hotel was recommended by a handful of strangers. I wound up at Devansh Residency, which has decent rooms and great food but is somewhat overpriced (apprx 1600 Rs/night, including GST and fees). Rainbow is just a bit less expensive.
So far as Naxals go -- if I hadn't done more than my fair share of research on the Maoist uprising, I'd never have known Bastar was so affected by rebellion. Unless you're planning to go trekking in the jungle alone, you will almost certainly not be affected by Naxalism. The only indications of conflict I noticed are the occasional monuments to fallen police and paramilitary officers placed along the highway.
