Talking

One word: Patnem.

Loving my flat, where I am, the beach, the people, the food, something always going on. And it doesn't hurt that a friend took the train from Kochi to play so that means I'm out dancing. In other words, having a blast!

I may be saying goodbye to Varkala after Goa.

Talking Made my day

One word: Panjim

There's an arts fest going on so I strolled over to the park where a guy was playing music. He was great but then he busts into some Parliment Funkadelic. WHAT THE HELL?! George Clinton music in India? Funk music? Somebody pinch me because I never thought I'd hear funk music in India. Then somebody pulled me up to dance. 😊

Two years after it was one of the most expensive (second only to the car, I suppose) things to be damaged in the Great Chennai Flood of December 2015, I finally got my Herman Miller chair repaired.

At one point, I had given up on it, and bought a decent but not fancy-brand replacement for less than one quarter of the price. Now... I am not certain that it might not be more comfortable!

Anyway, I suppose I should be grateful to the H Miller dealership for eventually doing a free "warranty" repair for something that was not at all a manufacturing fault.

If anybody ever feels the desire to rush out and buy a thousand-$$$ chair, my advice is... probably don't. And if you must, and it is a Herman Miller Embody, don't even spit on it, let alone immerse it for three days!

will make me happy but also be a big pain in the butt for 6 weeks -- finally getting a new kitchen after 15 years of being in my house.
demo starts end of the month, down to the studs, so new walls, new ceiling, new everything, except floor. appliances bought yesterday. at least my kitchen will now be up to current building codes in my town because right now I couldn't sell my house even if I wanted to -- currently my kitchen is against the law.

that I finally saw the red fox that lives in my gardens. everyone has seen it but me and I finally saw him/her this morning. I know it lives under my screened summer room but have never seen it. he's (she?) is a beauty. probably why I haven't seen the usual amount of chipmunks!

Overnight trip to Chidambaram, as guests at a big wedding

Five/six-hour drive each way was challenging but enjoyable. Knew the immediate family of the bride, got to know others. Enormous quantities of great veggie food.

Carnatic vocal concert for the reception. Nadaswaram and Tavil usually make auspicious sounds during the wedding ceremony. Today, they were played by masters of the art, and the music was sublime.

Lets go again to Niagra: This time we'll look at the falls...

The Nataraja Temple. So did we?

Managed to squeeze it in between the Betrothal and the Reception. Just a quick visit. Will return to those parts to see it again and to travel to Pichavaram, which has long been on my to-see list.

Meanwhile... I don't have to eat again until Thursday!

My old telephone number now works with Vodafone.

Meanwhile... working for Aircel must be depressing these days: like organising one's own funeral!

Great photo.

Looks like yamazakura, which tends to bloom early, doesn't it? But this is crazy early and throws the timing of our whole sakura trip into question.

Japan Guide tells us to expect Tokyo to open Somei Yoshino March 20. Is that still the forecast? That means we'll miss the peak, which we'd expected about ten days later. Phooey!

no one wants to hear the word "cancer" at 8 AM from your doctor but I'm glad my skin cancer excision was a success, i.e., they got all of it. so the top of my ear is a bit notched, who cares. told the dr. I did not care if he made my ear look like a cat's.
