Good Morning,
I will be in India Dec/Jan this year and wish to purchase some carpets. I will be in Mumbai, Delhi and Himchal(Manali/Simla etc). I was wondering if anyone knew of a website that has info on how to spot a good carpet and also if you could recommend a good shop that would send goods to Australia instead of lugging carpets around with me. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

you can either pay a little more and get the carpets in delhi at the Cottage industries and exposition in Connaught PLace ( janpath) or be a little more adventurous and visit some of the smaller shops. for a little piece of mind only buy from a store that has the labels stiched on. the Cottage industries store will ship the carpet. also if you are buying a silk carpet then they pack it into the size of a small suitcase you can technically carry it on board.

the kashmir emporium also has good quality carpets. you can always use dhl to ship
