Second hand Enfield bullet in Delhi

Hi,
I want to buy a second hand bullet in Delhi. Can anybody suggest reliable guys who will sell good bikes. I am planning to do the Manali/Leh or Kinnaur trip by bullet. I will sell it after a couple of years.

Heard of a guy called Lali singh. Anyone else?. Please give me addresses and your experiences/advice.

Thanks
Kaushik

Tried Bittu Bikewalla?

If you already haven't bought a Bullet, try Bittu Bikewala in Lajpat Nagar. He's supposed to be reliable, though I have no first hand experience.

You can also try John's at Pandara Road. His clients sometimes are looking out to sell Bullets. As far as I know, a 500 in good condition used by a Swiss guy is on offer right now, if it's not sold in the past couple of days.

Good Luck

I don't know if I'm too late posting this, there's also an outfit called Gurdial Auto Engineers 1664/35, Naiwala, Karol Bagh. A grandfather and grandson set up, very knowledgeable and honest, they're storing my 350 for me while I'm back in the U.K. Should sort you out with something good from 25000 ish(as a bare minimum) .You'll get a cracker for 38000 up. The grandsons name is Bawa. If you go say Andy (Wales, says hello). Unfortunately its only Lalli Singh that gets any publicity - he's got a big operation now. :)

I did go to Gurdial and got my yamaha rebored. He has done a very nice job and charges next to nothing. A very nice but an irritable chap with an irritable grandfather. They were always arguing and screaming at each other and granny was sitting there counselling both of them every 10 minutes. A very funny family in action.

Lalli Singh always gets recommended to me, no idea what he charges though.

He's an honest guy, best basis for recommendations. I wanted to purchase a bullet, was first thinking about buying second hand and restoring the bike. So I went to see mr Singh and after a chat he recommended me to rather buy a new one, he thought that would be better in my case (will be here for at least another 2 years). Anway, he referred me to Ess Aar motors, where I purchased my Thunderbird.

Lalli singh & Madan motors are the best recommended.. there are mukesh motors & soni motors also... (all these are in Karolbagh)

Well, while researching the market I found this site which doesn't paint a very rosy picture of Madaan motors. Don't know if it's all true or not, but I steered clear, you have to piss off a guy mighty hard before he sets up a site like this...

Heard some good stuff about Soni though, don't know Mukesh.

tilak2909 Aug 17th, 2010 16:36

i have myself have rented or purchases anything with any of the above four, but heard the reviews from references. also have seen the shops on all my sunday visits to KB... but yess once i remember a friend took bike from Madan, and at the time of return, the boy at the shop said that piston is causing noise and he will have to pay additional charges... but after argument only rent was deducted from security... similar complaint have been recvd for Mukesh motors aswell..
for Soni motors, never heard any bad thing...

Unless you've obviously mistreated the bike you should never pay a rental company for any serious engine problems like a piston.

Joga Motors in Gurgudwara Road has very good bikes.
Lalli Singh focuses mainly on rentals.
Mukesh is up and down.
Madaan needs caution.
Bawa, great guy.
Soni pretty good.
BulletWallas, mainly custom builds.
Pardesi pretty ok.
Tony Bikes pretty good

Lots of really suspect ones out there. Bullet Club in Paharganj near Imperial Cinema, seriously needs caution. So many are fitting the bikes up with cheap local parts and selling them off rebuilds. Most have not been touched, just adjusted to give the first 150 km free running, then ........

Yeah the first Bullet I bought was like this, actually it lasted around 70k before the outlet rod shot a hole the size of a five rupee coin in the gasket!

I was getting (another) Bullet souped up in Rishikesh and two Israelis turned up, having paid 40,000 each for two Bullets had to spend another wedge to have them completely rebuilt. The bikes literally fell apart on the way up from Delhi.

Buying Bullets is a real hit or miss affair and can be a real misery if you land a bucket of shit. Especially if your stuck on the highest road in the world at nightfall with a 180kg paperweight. My advice to the OP is to really look around; it's worth doing the research.

PS Make sure the paperwork is good!!

I rented 4 x Enfield 500cc for me and my friends last year from SONI motors. Great service and we only had minor problems during our 2700km ride.
