Hi everybody,

I'm a experienced India traveller and I always wanted to take my best friends to India and show them why I fell in love with this country. Thats why the plan of me and my friends began of travelling through India by rickshaw. We are planning to go somewhere at the end of 2010 so we have enough time to organise it all, but I think it's not really easy to organise a tour for about 10 people by rickshaw. So, does anybody here have some experience in this who is also willing to give me some tips? I was thinking of a tour about 2 months, start in the extreme south and end somewhere in northern India. I know there are a few rickshaw races, but they travel the country in 2 weeks. I don't want our rally to be a race. I want to travel through India, see a lot, and transport ourselves by rickshaw.

Any advice is really welcome, thanks in advance!

Hi! Fantastic idea - But I think you are right when you realise that this won't be easy. Sourcing reliable rickshaws is going to be your first problem. I know you are aware that these types of rallies already exist but getting in touch with some people who arrange these might be the way to get the best information.

These people seem pretty savvy - http://www.theadventurists.com/

Puppy's right, and you'll find previous threads on it on this forum if you search around for it, including links to some other gangs who do it I think. Try looking for +rickshaw +race or something (this will also produce some hits on how to get your own rickshaw together at all, notably this one: http://www.indiamike.com/india/buses...ckshaw-t39262/ ).

Check also these folks (in Britain): http://www.tukshop.biz/ . And, seeing how you're in Amsterdam, you'll be aware folks drive them around here in various forms, so you might want to get a hold of those people somehow (just stop them on the streets?) Try a web search for +rickshaw +amsterdam; and look here, I was unaware of this : http://www.rickshawforum.com/ .

Hi, going from extreme Southern India to somewhere in North India, in any season on the 'Hero cycles' rickshaw (that black tubes thing driven everywhere in Delhi) will give you at least a hurting back and neck. Or will you just sit in the back?
I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.
