Hi there,
i tried several of the bus searchengines mentioned in the "sticky" thread, but i didn't even find Darjeeling as starting point...
I hope you can help me !
We are visiting darjeeling with the heritage toy train. On our way back we need to hurry up a bit because i would like to reach the airport in bagdogra before 1:30 pm to get a plane to delhi, what saves us one day.
Now, as the toytrain is no alternative i was looking for a bus but i couldn't find any information about a schedule etc.
Is there a direct connection between darjeeling and the airport?

How much might a taxi from darjeeling to the airport be?

Could you suggest a homepage for booking buses in that area?

thanks for help!

Shared jeeps are the usual form of travel in between Darjeeling and Bagdogra because of the hilly terrain. You can arrange your journey in Darjeeling by going to the taxi stand at the bottom of the hill near the clock. You would need to start out quite early in order to board your 1.30 pm flight. Sorry I don't know the current rates, but you should probably bargain.

At this time I guess most of the people are out partying. And I don't know about buses! Hope someone will stumble along who knows the answer!

Beware of the Darjeeling unrest

As far as I know there is no direct bus connection between Darjeeling
and the airport at Bagdogra. You'll first have to get off in Siliguri,
then catch something else for the airport. Hiring a private car is a
different matter.

However, you should be aware of the current political unrest in the
Darjeeling hills. Roads could be blockaded unpredictably anytime,
throwing your travel plans haywire. Here is some information:

Darjeeling, Dec. 26: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s student wing today threatened to paralyse traffic bound not only for Darjeeling but also Sikkim and the Northeast.

All the three national highways in the region will be blockaded from noon to 3pm on Sunday, the outfit announced, adding that it was an “indefinite” agitation, meaning the traffic trauma could be an everyday affair.

“The students have now decided to hit the streets to press for Gorkhaland…. The blockade will go on indefinitely and if there is no positive response from the Centre on the statehood demand, we will not hesitate to organise indefinite hunger strikes along the national highway,” said Keshav Raj Pokhrel, the general secretary of the Vidyarthi Morcha.

The road blockade is still going on, everyday!
