I Returned on Previous Sunday From Leh. It was a trip ofa lifetime. He he!!

Find a new way or place yourself to add it to the world map. This will be a Master of all researches in modern times. You have your whole life for such a petty task. So, start searching today not on maps but by Travelling.

We shared the taxi with a couple, i.e., making it to 5 people. At the end of the trip we 3 paid the Mr. Zakir (Ladakh Tour Escorts) an amount of Rs. 14000. The couple paid Rs. 10,500.

At Spangmik, we stayed at the Padma Guest House which charged us Rs. 300 for a three-bed room with common toilet and no electricity but the full-view of the Pangong Tso from the windows near your head. It was the last GH near the banks of the Pangong. If u have a female member in your group it is the best. The Accomodation is very basic but there are 3 rooms, all triple bedded. Actually they charge Rs.100 per bed. All the rooms and the bathroom are connected through a closed corridor.
There is also a Tourism rest house which will charge Rs. 3500 per double bedded room with dinner and breakfast. They dont charge for Extra occupancy. There are also basic Dome tents @ Rs. 800 and Luxury tents @ Rs. 2500. The other GHs were charging Rs. 500 per room but their bathrooms were on the other side of the street or take a 3 mins round about walk.

At Korzok, we stayed at the Mentok GH. Mr. Dorjay offerd us a front view room for Rs. 500 non-attached. The windows were all of glass covering 95% of the front wall. The room was carpeted wall to wall. He had three such rooms. We took the middle one. The View of Tso Moriri was awesome from his window. There is a High class hotel offering attached rooms with dinner and breakfast @ Rs. 1300 and Tents @ Rs. 700 & Luxury tents @ Rs. 2000. Mentok GH is the highest room available with such a beautiful view from your bed. ( better than Luxury Tents). The Bare roof top of GH was a bonus to view the clear sky and the sunrise. This is much better and spacious accomodation than Spangmik with electricity from 7PM to 11PM ( same in all kinds of accomodations in Korzok).

I can assure you the Ladakhi people never charges you a lot for food. A Veg meal will be less than Rs. 50 and Rs. 60 with Egg. The rooms we stayed are quite warm.

Backdrop

6/8/2010

I was returning happily since my train was on the next day for my trip to Leh.
Ufff!!!!!!!
A major set back.
A cloud burst had hit Leh and it is disconnected from the rest of the country. Alas! I had to cancel my trip and went for "VAlley of flowers" last year.
