Arrow Tom's Diner

Tom's Diner
by Suzanne Vega

I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner
I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee
And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue
He is looking
Out the window
At somebody
Coming in
"It is always
Nice to see you"
Says the man
Behind the counter
To the woman
Who has come in
She is shaking
Her umbrella
And I look
The other way
As they are kissing
Their hellos
I'm pretending
Not to see them
And Instead
I pour the milk
I open
Up the paper
There's a story
Of an actor
Who had died
While he was drinking
He was no one
I had heard of
And I'm turning
To the horoscope
And looking
For the funnies
When I'm feeling
Someone watching me
And so
I raise my head
There's a woman
On the outside
Looking inside
Does she see me?
No she does not
Really see me
Cause she sees
Her own…

Tom Jones does The Beatles

With The Dump threatening WW3 we here need a laugh.

I dig Tom Jones but those black and white jumpsuits remind me of dancing cows!

My Generation

The last shot is my sentiments exactly.

"The amazing hit from the world's oldest rock band and most unlikely global superstars - The Zimmers - with a 90-year-old lead singer and a combined age of more than 3,000. This cover of The Who's My Generation is filmed in the Beatles' studio at Abbey Road. This is the band that showed the world that you're never too old to rock...

*** The Zimmers story ***

BBC documentary-maker Tim Samuels set out to make a film about how badly the elderly are treated in Britain - and decides to form a band with the lonely old people he finds in care homes, tower blocks and bingo halls. No-one takes Samuels' idea seriously until he comes across record label owner Neil Reed - and U2 producer Mike Hedges - who believe that the elderly should be given a voice and manage to get access to the Beatles' old studio at Abbey Road.

On a magical day, the 40 old people - who have no musical background - come together at Abbey Road to record their version of The Who's 'My Generation', with 90-year-old Alf belting out the lead vocals.

Overnight, Alf, 99-year-old Winnie, 100-year-old Buster and the rest of the band become global sensations. Their video goes to number one on YouTube, media from more than 50 countries demand interviews and they fly over to LA to appear on the biggest chat show alongside Hollywood's biggest star George Clooney."

To OH's complete despair I am avidly fond of very old recordings by great singers - here is one of the finest sopranos of all time singing what is basically a Victorian pub sing-along song....
A pint or three for the first person to identify the singer....

Don't Steal My Sunshine

The indie pop track became a sleeper hit when radio stations began playing it in March 1999, four months before Len planned to release their album. "Steal My Sunshine" had a commercial single release in July 1999. It received positive reviews from music critics, and its chart success caused Len to be considered a one-hit wonder. The song earned a nomination for "Best Single" at the Juno Awards of 2000. .
