Hi everyone

does someone know a quiet but also affordable simple accommodation (Hotel, Lodge) in or around Bangalore? Maximum price per night 700 RPS (for one person). I am not used to have much traffic in front of my window.

If you can find any place in Bangalore without much traffic in front, do let us all know! That said, Rs700 sounds like a budget option. I am thinking there might be something that price near the Majestic bus stand. I wish I had something personal to recommend, but I know that is where most people find decent low-cost hotels.

If you are looking for a pleasant neighborhood to stay in, I recommend Malleswaram, out past Palace Grounds. It is primarily residential (though there is a huge mall there now, and even a Sheraton out near the Soap Factory! I almost fell over when I saw a Sheraton there.)

If you find a quiet place without traffic in Bangalore, please do share!

Here are some older posts that might still work:

The second one particularly mentioned hunting out some guest houses just off MG Road, though no specifics were given. Church Street is behind MG Road off Brigade and it is much quieter back there, so this could be a good tip. Even if the road is busy, ask for a room in the back and it will be much quieter. Search through old posts here. You might find more specific recommendations tucked in.

Honestly, and I lived in Bangalore and love it, BUT if you do not have something specifically to do in Bangalore like a flight or business, keep going the extra two hours and stop in Mysore. Mysore is much smaller, has many nice older hotels and some decent budget options on roads without too much traffic. I joked about Bangalore traffic, but it is intense and hard to escape from.

Hopefully someone else has a specific recommendation! Good luck!

Hi Bekku, thanks for your writing. Church Street behind MG Road seemed to be a god tip, I'll check it and post here. I arrive at the 25. of June and first I stay in UG Deluxe Lodge, they have rooms at the backside and is 600 per night, about 600 meters in the south west of Bangalore City Junction (train station).

I come to Bangalore to visit a special consultant and to do a meditation course. But I have to bridge three weeks. So I'm thankful of the tip regarding Mysore. Will see how my nerves endure the traffic

Hi Rolfi,

You should check for old places in Bangalore like Jayanagar, Rajijinagar or seek out places outskirts of Bangalore

This is so great because I stay in Rajajinagar when I am in Bangalore. First block! It is a lovely old part of Bangalore that I adore. Hmmm. I should start a guest house!

I will recommend Rajajinagar ( the ISKCON temple is the best landmark there) and also recommend Malleswaram (muh-lesh-rum is how you pronounce it very roughly). There might be some great little hotels tucked in there. But they are also nice areas to visit. Malleswaram in particular for food (Veena Stores, CTR, Iyer Mess, Raghavendra Stores, etc.)

Rolfi, the hotel you found is in the neighborhood commonly known as Majestic. It is the place for budget hotel/shopping in town! Very central for most everything. If you tell your auto driver Majestic, they will know roughly where you need to go to get back. There should be lots of options around if you do not like your particular hotel. You really have to eat at the chaat place called Sukh Sagar http://www.happycow.net/reviews/sukh...angalore-20397 near the National Market which is just a few roads away from your place. Their chaat and thick shakes are one of my favorite treats!

One place not too far from Majestic that is lovely to visit is called KCP. Karnatika Chitrakala Parishath, but call it KCP to be understood! It is an art college with beautiful grounds. http://www.karnatakachitrakalaparishath.com They usually have a free art gallery to visit and they often have wonderful craft exhibits, plus the grounds are filled with student art in lovely, lush gardens. An absolute oasis in the middle of Bangalore and not often visited, so very peaceful!

But do try to see Mysore and nearby Srirangapatnam or visit the Nandi Hills. If you have time, I also recommend going farther out into Coorg for a coffee plantation homestay. Bangalore is a wonderful place, one of my favorite cities in the world (can you tell? ) All in spite of the traffic! I hope you enjoy your visit!

East of Brigade Road, and south of the Metro line you will find extensive neighbourhoods with winding footpath alleyways, quiet like villages, with complete services of all kind on offer. There are plenty of cheap, clean, decent, unadvertised guest houses in the area.

These places do not generally cater to foreign guests, however there is no bar. Prospective guests may however find the places to be full if there is not a mutual feeling of congeniality upon first contact. Conservative dress and conduct recommended.

How embarrassing. I forgot this to finish; but maybe not too late.
And thanks for all the tips.
There's indeed a place in Bangalore I was looking for:
It's called Ashok Palace, #72&73 Hospital Road, Balepet Cross.
Just around the corner of the Lakshmi Narasimha Temple at Sreenivasa Mandir Road.
On maps google it seemed to be CPM Rd but it's wrong labelled, it is Hospital Road (just found a bill).

It was in July 2015 450 Rps/Night. There are Rooms at the backside quite quiet (but except one room (at upper floor) there is no daylight as a building is close). But the rooms to the street (more an alley) are probably quiet too as there is hardly traffic.
The price of 450 Rps is compared with Bangalore Hotels in general very cheep and the rooms are quite ok, not dirty (saw much dirtier ones :-) with attached bathroom.

The above mentioned UG Deluxe Lodge is quite ok too but not quiet as the Ashok Palace.
I was also in the Karnatika Chitrakala Parishath – KCP-Museum, where I could indeed somehow sink into another world :-)
Ans what I really loved was the Cabon Park respectively the old fairytale-like trees there.
