Need Suggestion: BLR-Rameswaram-BLR-Pondy
Hello fellow travelers !!!
Here's the details of my trip.
Day 1 - Reaching Bangalore in early morning, have some work in the noon. Leaving Bangalore by night to Rameswaram (have decided that till now cool:)
Day 2 (SAT) - stay at Rameswaram
Day 3 (SUN) - Leave rameswaram by night for Bangalore
Day 4 - Reaching Bangalore in the morning, some work in the afternoon. Stay at Bangalore
Day 5 - Bangalore - Work :mad: leave Bangalore at night to Pondy
Day 6 - Reach Pondy and stay
Day 7 - Stay at Pondy
Day 8 - Leave in the afternoon for Chennai and catch a night train back to Calcutta.
So friends, its a travel cum work trip (though the work is very limited on Day 1, 4 and 5 (2-3 hours per day)
I want to utilize the weekend i.e. Day 2 and 3 - I think I will visit Rameswaram (via Madurai) Few have suggested to stay at Madurai and then make a day trip to Rameswaram. However, I am more interested in staying at Rameswaram. Can you suggest any weekend destination from Bangalore for me for Day 2 and 3 and if required I can extend my weekend trip to Day 4 by skipping the work on day 4/ reaching Bangalore at night on Day 4
And whatever be the situation, I want to leave Bangalore by Day 5 night to Pondicherry. I will be reaching Pondi on 15th August, the birthday of Rishi Aurobindo. So Pondi will be totally crowded. Any suggestions for accomodation in Pondi (Its seems that the Ashram is totally booked for that week)
And suggestion for a direct transport from Bangalore to Pondicherry (was only able to find link of redbus.in with very limited service)
On Friday night you can take the train to Madurai and then take either a train OR bus to Rameswaram. You should be there by lunch. Get into your hotel and finish everything there. On Sunday morning leave back to Madurai and use the day till you get your train back to Bangalore that evening.
The only option left is bus (Sharma Travels - sitting only).
What is the road condition from Bangalore to Madurai? Is it worth traveling in a non-ac sitting bus for 7-8 hours during night?
Any other suggestions?
Road is in a good condition. The journey would be more than 7 - 8 hours :-(
When full, I try few options:
(2) try from Ramnagaram (but board at Bangalore City)... it has worked so far
(3) try upper class (ac 2 tier)
