Hello,

I am new to the site and Bangalore! I have moved here with my husband. He is a NRI and I am British. He is setting up a company here, so doesn't have lavish salaries to have fun with! (sadly). We are looking for a house about 40,000 pm rent. We love the luxury of the gated communities near whitefield, but they are out of our price range. He will be starting a factory near whitefield ish (12km away). We also thought of Koromangala, but they seem to be mostly apartments. We would really like a house. We also prefer gated because of security, but not quite sure where to turn. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you so much in advance!

Loz

Have you tried Banaswadi/Ramamurthy Nagar? They have some nice independant houses (not gated communities) and not too far from Whitefield. Also try the Sarjapur Road side though I am not entirely sure of the price range. I am yet to come across a gated community that charges rents lesser than 40K though. Good luck in your search.

Its best to live as close as possible to the place you work , I have lived and worked in Bangalore and let me tell you travelling 12 km during peak hours can be frustrating and stressful, and its not something you'd want when you are already dealing with the stress of setting up your own business. Even if your budget is 40k start looking for something @25K to 35K . If you start by saying that your budget is 40K all those places which would otherwise have been shown as being 25 or 30 K will be shown to you as being 40K . It is possible to find something decent and comfortable between 25 and 30k in a gated community near Whitefield.

Welcome to Bangalore. you can look out for houses near Marathahalli or HAL airport/C.V.Raman Nagar. Please dont quote the rent (40k) you are looking for. Quote the dimension of house (example:30X40)or number of rooms you require. once you have looked at 10 -15 houses you will get a fair idea of rent in that area. Also keep in mind that if your rent is 40k the advance amount will be between 4lakhs to 6lakhs plus the monthly maintainence charges. so Never quote 40k. All the best in your house hunt.

Hi Sutherland,
I came across this estate agent 9482576697- Pradeep kumar, who specializes in the sarjapur and maharthalli area. Maybe you can contact him, he showed my sister and brother-in-law some nice houses in your budget...you can tell him you got his contact through mr Morris( my BIL).. I spoke to him a month ago and he was due to get married soon, hope he's around to help you.. Seems like a nice enough bloke.
Cheers and good luck!

Now that you know the names of the area, try these websites

magicbricks.com
99acres.com
commonfloor.com

How many bedrooms you are looking for?
Furnished / non-furnished?
Features you would want?

Good luck with your search

Thank you all for your very useful advice. It turns out that the location of the business is moving to near the International Airport! So, I will re-start looking there!

Recommended areas would be Yelahanka, Hebbal, Sahakara Nagar, and by some stretch, Jalahalli. There could be other new townships closer to the airport that I am unaware of.
