You havent indicated what interests you. 4 days around Mysore or Bangalore are easily whiled away within the city or out of it. Coorg will be an easy and likeable choice.

Yea, as V_A said, Coorg is a good option. Or Nagarhole national park. Or you could go to Ooty, or even Wayanad. Plenty of options around Mysore. Come to Bangalore a day or two before your day of departure, as there are good places to hang out there too. But then nothing historical or spectacular about the city..

Within Bangalore there are plenty of things to do depending on your interest. If you like nature, then Cubbon park, bannerghatta national park. If you like heritage then Bangalore Palace is great place to send half a day. There is a day outing possible to Lepakshi, which has magnificent sculpture and temple in Vijayanagar style dating back to 16th century. There is shopping of course at Commercial street, Brigade Road, MG road!

If you have 4 days from Mysore then you can visit Bylakuppe the Tibetan settlement which has a magnificent Golden temple. Its a living monastery and a great place to understand tibetan culture. (more details at http://www.greatholidayideas.net/wee...bylakuppe.html)

After that you can visit Coorg. Its a coffee growing hill station where you can just laze around or see some interesting places like the origin of River cauvery, scenic waterfall (abbey and Iruppu), (check http://www.greatholidayideas.net/wee...y-holiday.html)
